  25. About the Author

“Oh never ever say never, darling.” Brendon drew a large arc in the air with his hand. “Who knows what fate has in store for you.”

“It might have nothing in store for me.” Megan had a sudden pang in her chest. What if she’d totally screwed up? What if Dylan was the best she was ever going to get and she’d thrown it all away? Perhaps the single life wasn’t for her after all. Maybe she’d be better off married and getting on with it…

“Buck up, will you,” Georgie said with an uncharacteristic forceful tone. “The world is your oyster, Megan. It’s all there waiting for you, go grab it by the horns. There is absolutely nothing to stop you achieving your dreams and we know you have big dreams. Plans to take the fashion industry by storm with your fabulous shoes and knock all those other designers off their pedestals.”

“Oh yeah, and we just know you can do it, wearing the best footwear out there in the process,” Brendon said, holding up his wine. “So, let’s drink to grabbing horns, one of my favourite pastimes. And don’t think you’re alone, sweetpea. Pudding and Pie here might be loved up, but me and you are gonna have so much fun and grab so many horns!”

“Hey, I can still do fun.”

“Of course you can.” Megan gave Georgie a quick hug. Her best friend wasn’t the sort to ditch and run because she had a man in her life. They’d still spend plenty of time together, the way they always had, sharing gossip, talking through worries and having a laugh.

Megan smiled and looked between Brendon and Georgie. Her friends were right. She had to get back in the saddle. This was what running from the altar had been about, finding herself again, being herself again.

And damn, she was ready to take the challenge, and like Brendon had said, she’d be wearing the most fabulous shoes in the process, her fabulous shoes which at the moment would be the focus of her days and likely nights too.

Chapter Four

Megan loved her Change Street office—it was small, cute and despite being in the City had the perfect relaxed vibe for letting her imagination run riot. But as she let herself through the front door the next day, she felt weary and her limbs were heavy.
