- About the Author
“I know you do and he loves you. This is wonderful. I wish I was there to give you a hug.”
“That will have to wait.” She paused. “I’m sorry, I’m not going to get to Frank’s.”
“Of course you’re not, bloody hell, you’ve just got engaged. What are you doing calling me, you should be jumping Tom’s bones. Your new fiancé.”
“Well…that is next on the agenda.” She giggled. “To shag my new fiancé.”
“Have you told Brendon?”
“Not yet. I wanted to tell you first.”
“Ah, that’s nice.” Megan’s heart swelled with affection. Theirs was such a special bond.
“I wanted to make sure you were okay with it, Megan?”
“Yes, of course, why wouldn’t I be? I’m over the moon for you.”
“Well I know you’re not having a great time at the moment. And after the church and Dylan and…”
“I’m fine, in fact I couldn’t be better, life is on the up, and honestly, hearing this news, well now I’m really okay, I couldn’t be happier for you.” Megan kept her voice light and breezy, hoping to inject enthusiasm into her words. But the truth was it did hurt, like a tiny dagger twisted in her heart. A few months ago she had been the one excited about a new ring and setting a date, and look where that had got her.
“Ah, you’re the best, and it will all work out for you, I know it will.”
“Absolutely it will, but before you go and…well do whatever please, please send me a picture of the ring.” Megan was desperate to see it, sapphire in platinum sounded beautiful and so very perfect for Georgie. Tom did indeed know her well.
“Okay, will do.”
“Now go, future Mrs Ellis, and have some fun. We’ll catch up tomorrow and you can give me all the details about the proposal and I mean all, I don’t want you to miss a thing out. I need to know what you were wearing, which direction he was facing when on one knee and—”
“Yes, tomorrow, all the details tomorrow.” She laughed then gasped. “Tom, get off… Megan…I have to…go…”
“Okay, have fun.” Megan ended the call and stared at the two huge glasses of wine.
She’d just have to drink them both.
Chapter Five
Megan had just started on the second sauvignon and spent several minutes admiring the photograph Georgie had sent of her stunning ring, when she noticed the door opening and a new customer striding in.
Her senses heightened and she studied the way he walked. It was him. Hot Guy. He wore a black leather jacket, jeans and his dark hair glistened slightly as the dim overhead light caught on the tiny drips of rain.
