- About the Author
Her breaths were hard to catch and her whole body felt electrified. It had been so long since she’d been with anyone other than Dylan, but James was so in tune with her, they were like two pieces of a jigsaw coming together.
She stroked over the place she’d just scratched then down his back. His skin was a little damp with sweat.
“You okay?” he asked by her ear, his breathing loud.
“Yes, never better.”
“That was amazing…” He nibbled on her lobe. “You’re amazing.”
Chapter Twelve
James
James woke to the sound of the birds that roosted in the skinny tree by his window. The room was warm and he felt utterly relaxed and at peace with the world. For a moment, unlike every other day, he kept his eyes closed and enjoyed the feeling of having a woman in his bed and in his arms.
Megan’s legs were tangled with his—so slim and soft—and her palm rested over his heart. He breathed deeply, relishing the fruity shampoo scent of her hair.
When had he last appreciated the company of a hot woman? He was embarrassed to admit he couldn’t recall the length of time it had been, though he did know it had been with Jenny, his ex who was now honeymooning in Bali.
Not that he’d minded being alone these last few years. It was the way he was wired—he was self-sufficient, independent, focused, but then…well, when the choice of company was as pretty and sweet, as endearing and entertaining as Megan, it seemed foolish to be trapped in his self-imposed solitary confinement. Being alone was over-rated, or so he’d just reminded himself.
He stroked the back of his thumb over her bare shoulder, admiring the porcelain delicateness of her skin. Everything about Megan was perfect. Her quick smile, her intelligent eyes, her gorgeous body with curves that were enough to make him want to throw everything away and make her his. He didn’t know what it was about her that brought out the Neanderthal in him but thoughts of throwing her over his shoulder and claiming her for all of time kept barging into his consciousness.
It was almost instinctual.
And damn, that sexy black underwear he’d discovered last night when her dress had landed on the floor. If he’d known she’d been wearing that while they’d been in the restaurant, he would have sat there imagining it the entire evening.
As it was, the black lace had sapped his stamina when he’d come face-to-face with it. Megan was a stunning woman but wrapped up in beautiful lingerie, she’d been all his fantasies come true.
