- About the Author
Jenny and Anna shared a look.
“I really like that idea,” Anna said, turning to the camera operator, her delight clear on her face.
“We can move the scene that never really worked,” Jenny said.
“The heart-to-heart one.” Anna nodded, turning back to the production assistant and the camera operator. “Is there a village or a local place where we can shoot?”
They conferred. “Yes, Matteo knows of a place. It is his hometown.”
“Thank you,” Anna said. “We’re moving that scene to the end of the schedule so we have time to prepare.”
John didn’t interrupt. The plan made perfect sense, even if it was technically his job to make the shooting schedule. He would have to work closely with Jenny this afternoon to get it done, since she knew what the new script entailed. He’d been here a few hours, and he was already behind.
“What are we shooting while the new sets are being built?” Cole asked. “It’s going to take a couple of days.” John could already tell Cole was going to be a problem for Anna. It was like he couldn’t open his mouth without sounding put out.
“The new outdoor scenes.”
“What new outdoor scenes?”
Yeah, he’s definitely going to be a problem.
Anna appeared to count to three before answering. “We’re filming the new confrontation between Derek and Reed.”
Cole sat back in his chair, folding his arms. “How are you going to explain the villain changing his entire face?”
“I’ve dealt with that in the script,” Jenny answered. “It’s not perfect, but it’s what we’ve got.”
Anna swore. She glanced at John. When their eyes met, there was no hint of recognition. He should have been relieved that whatever had happened at the bar and at the premiere wasn’t going to affect their job here. Still, it shocked him that she could so easily turn it off.
“John, if your shooting schedule is different... I began one out of habit,” she said, seemingly genuinely chagrined to have started his job without him.
All the heads swiveled to stare at John. He didn’t want to have to admit this. “I don’t have the schedule yet.”
Anna glanced up at the ceiling. He didn’t know if she believed in God, but she was definitely calling on a higher power.
John put up a hand. “I got the new script fifteen minutes ago.”
“Great,” Anna said, hands gripping the page. “When it’s done, give me a copy. Thanks.”
John rolled his tongue in his cheek. Excellent—she already thought he was incompetent.
“I’ll work with Jenny,” John said. “That will be the most efficient.”
Jenny narrowed her eyes at John as if he owed her an explanation, so that conversation was going to happen sooner than later.
