“You really don’t know how to dance, do you?” That voice: London-rough and laced with filthy charm, but with a warm, affectionate chuckle underneath, laughing with me and not at me.

“Sorry. I told you.”

The hand on my waist slid around to my back and his fingers spread, controlling me with gentle presses of his fingertips. He let go of my other hand and held my shoulder, and now we were even closer, my breasts a half inch from his chest. I stretched up and put my hand on his shoulder, and the other one on his back. The size of him, the muscled solidness of him, was overwhelming, this close, and it was making my brain fog and my whole body go trembly and hypersensitive.

I realized the music had stopped. The garage was so quiet, I could hear my breathing. Time seemed to go syrupy slow but, at the same time, my eyes were flicking everywhere, taking in every detail of his face.

His hand pressed on my back and now my breasts did touch his chest, just a gentle little double kiss. He was like warm rock and the feel of him, brushing against my nipples through a thin layer of cloth, sent a wave of heat down my body to detonate in my groin.

His cocky smirk was gone. His eyes were hooded and when he spoke, his voice was ragged with need. “Erin…” he began. His hand came off my shoulder and cupped my cheek—

A metallic boom-boom-boom reverberated through the room and we flew apart, turning to look. The big roller door at the front of the garage was shaking. I blinked my way back to awareness. “That’ll be my brother,” I told Danny, and hurried to the front of the garage. My mind was spinning, my lips still tingling in anticipation of the kiss that almost was.

I reached the front door and checked through the door viewer: yep, it was my brother. And he looked mad, which explained why he’d banged on the roller door instead of just knocking on this one. But why would he be mad?

I opened the door and he stepped inside, accompanied by a flurry of snow. I wasn’t used to seeing him in a suit, or to seeing those gorgeous, soulful blue eyes so full of anger. But one thing was familiar: he still had his beloved cream Stetson on his head.

“Danny,” I said, “this is my brother, JD.”

DANNY

My body had moved to the door but my caveman brain was still back by the jukebox, tangled in feelings it wasn’t used to. She was quirky and adorable and sexy all at the same time and she smelled like peaches and Christmas, and I was just about to kiss her—

And then suddenly, JD was there.

I frowned, eager to get back to the kiss. Why was JD there?

My brother, Erin’s mouth said.

Her brother.
