I was pacing up and down Vasiliy’s living room. The rest of the team were scattered around the couches and armchairs, all of us stewing in silence. It was eerily quiet except for the ringing of a cell phone, off in another room, and the quiet was driving me crazy. I needed to be out there, finding her. She was all alone with that psycho—
“Could we try the Sisters of Invidia again?” I demanded.
“They’ve been through the satellite feeds a hundred times,” said Kian gently. “We know Becker went south from Berlin but then they lost him. He’s probably gone to meet the buyer. He could be anywhere by now.”
I kept pacing. “We could go to the police.”
“They’d never believe us,” said Bradan. “We’re fugitives, accusing one of their top spies.”
JD didn’t say a word. He just stood by the fireplace, staring at the flames and going through the same hell I was going through.
The cellphone rang again, coming closer. Luka walked into the room in a bathrobe, stabbing angrily at the screen to reject the call. He watched me pace for a few seconds. “You wear out rug,” he said, not unkindly.
I spun to face the room. “There’s got to be some way to find her!” My stomach was churning with cold, sick fear. I could feel her slipping away with every second. I looked desperately around the room but everyone just looked back at me helplessly.
Luka’s phone began to ring again. He cursed in Russian and stabbed at the screen again to reject it.
“Who keeps calling you?” asked Gina.
Luka shrugged his massive shoulders. “Salesman, maybe. But their machine broken. No one there when I answer. They keep calling and calling.” He gestured at his bathrobe. “Even in sauna!” He scowled. “I keep number private to avoid this!”
I froze. “Wait. Wait, wait, wait. Erin has your number!” I snatched the phone from him before he could stop me and brought up the last caller, then called Lily, one of The Sisters of Invidia. “Can you locate a phone number?” I read it out to her.
“Southern Germany,” she said a few seconds later. “Private estate. Wait, is this right? It’s a castle!” She sent me a photo and a map.
JD and the others crowded around to look. “We’re going to need a chopper,” said JD.
“Finally!” breathed Gina.

A little over an hour later, we were crouched in thick forest, looking in disbelief at the white-painted castle. “Who’s buying the bomb?” asked Kian. “Cinderella?”
“I don’t think this is just about selling the bomb,” said Gabriel slowly. “Look how many guards there are. He pointed to a whole row of expensive cars parked next to the castle. More were approaching up the winding road. “This is something bigger.”
