I suppose it was, because the Princess ran out of the castle carrying the chest in her arms. When she got outside, she took a rock and broke the padlock with a single hit.
What did she find?
Inside the chest there was only one envelope that read: “Odai, your wealth”.
The Prince had hidden it away so she wouldn’t remember.
That’s right. The Princess opened the envelope, read the paper and immediately went to her room and packed her bags. She took her kids and left the castle. I followed her. We didn’t get very far. We were stopped in town by the Prince’s guards. They threatened to take the children away; the Princess fought like a beast. I also fought because my fear had changed.
How did your fear change?
I don’t know, but I wasn’t afraid of the guards or the Prince anymore. I was only afraid of losing the children and very afraid of going back to the castle.
What happened then?
The Prince, the Princess and the children began arguing, there was a moment when I stopped listening.
The Princess blocked her fear!
I think so. Finally, Bono, who was nineteen at the time, said that he would stay with his dad and only Yara, who was eighteen and Gotz, who was seventeen went with their mom. This all happened five years ago, Writer.
Why did I let so much time go by?
We lived in a house near town for a while and the Princess got a job in a shop. Her children would help out and Bono would visit every time he could and bring a little bit of money. Yara met a young man; she got married and moved away. Bono decided one day to go look for adventure and just left. When Bono left, the Prince stopped sending money. The Princess took half of what she had saved and sent Gotz to study abroad and then we were all alone. With the other half of her savings, she bought this house and we have been living here for a year.
How is she?
Sad. She doesn’t go to work, she spends all her time at home, and it has nothing to do with fear... she won’t even listen to me anymore. You don’t know how many times I prayed you would show up.
Well, I’m here now, and I will talk to the Princess.
The Writer walked past the fence and stood at the front door for a moment. His heart was beating hard; he took a deep breath and went inside. The Dragon was right behind him.
