A shiver went over my back at the thought of it. “Oh, fuck yeah. Snatch up our pretty little toy and take her away all for ourselves? Sounds exactly like the vacation I need.”
It wasn’t just lust that had me excited. The need to pull Jess close and never let her go, no matter how completely mad she drove me, was growing more intense by the day. I had some fucked up abandonment issues, and I didn’t know what the hell Jess felt about us, but knowing that was her ultimate fantasy made a ridiculous burst of hope explode in my chest.
She wanted something we could give her. An escape, an outlet for her darkness, a safe place she could fulfill all her filthy desires. I wanted to give her that. I wanted to show her that regardless of her fears, she could have everything she wanted and more.
I needed it to be different this time. I’d break every damn rule necessary to win, to claim a prize that had been dangling in front of our faces for years.
This was our game, and I didn’t care what it took to make her ours in the end.

When I published The Dare, I really didn’t think a kinky, weird, Halloween-y novella would get much traction. But as more and more people read it, enjoyed it, and spoke to me about it, one thing became very clear: the story of Manson, Jess, and the clown boys couldn’t yet come to an end. Readers wanted to know more, and I wanted to delve back into these characters, I wanted to give them the space to tell their story as it needed to be told.
So the first thank you I must extend is to everyone who wanted The Dare to go on. All those who knew that Manson, Jess, Jason, Vincent, and Lucas had a story that needed telling, all those who have waited SO PATIENTLY while I got this book written. I appreciate you endlessly.
To my husband, as always, you see the best and worst of me through this process. You comfort the breakdowns, the tears, and all my doubts. And you make sure I actually eat and get outside the house now and then. Thank you for always supporting me, caring for me, and showing me all the love that inspires these books. There would be no Manson Reed without you.
To Z, my lovely editor, thank you for all your work on this absolute brick of manuscript! I know I can always count on you to make these books shine.
Tasha, thank you so much for being my beta! And my part-time therapist, lol. This book would not be what is without you.
To all the amazing folks with JLCR Author Services, thank you for everything! I don’t know what I would have done without you all.
