Isn’t quarantine basically 24/7 detention?

Gabriela

Yup, but now we have to Zoom after school for another hour and just, like, stare at each other while we do homework? So dumb. I need that time to paint.

Parisa

So dumb. Ugh, Wes!!!

But he said you looked pretty? That’s really sweet.

Gabriela

It is kind of sweet. Also, he looks…

Parisa

OMG, say it!

Gabriela

He looks cute. His hair is kind of long-ish.

Parisa

Whoa. Are you secretly into Wes?!

Gabriela

No!

Parisa

I don’t believe this. You guys are gonna date. My sister and Gideon are dating. I’m gonna be all alone with my fantasies of Mr. Dennery.

Which TBH isn’t a bad place to be. He was so cute in English today. He was wearing a T-shirt and had his bathrobe on, as a joke.

Gabriela

LOL. You and your love of older men.

Parisa

Gideon is only 19.

Gabriela

Still counts.

Parisa

Not when he’s dating your sister.

Gabriela

Every good love story has its obstacles!

I’m totally kidding. You could do so much better than Gideon. I should set you up with my neighbor.

Parisa

Raj? He’s like forty.

Gabriela

If he is, then he’s your type!

Parisa

I hate you, LOL. I have to get back to doing homework.

Gabriela

LAME! Okay, I’ll TTYL. Love you!

Parisa

Love you, too!

GABRIELA

Not too long ago, Lizzy Pearson and her vapid circle of friends would have been on the opening page of my imaginary burn book, but now that honor goes to insomnia. I want to murder insomnia. I want to set her on fire and watch her turn to ash. I want to grab her by the throat and choke the life right out of her. She’s been taunting me for ten torturous nights, and, to put it mildly, she fucking sucks. Everyone knows that teenage girls need at least nine hours of solid rest to function properly, and when you take sleep deprivation and mix it with hormonal imbalances and the threat of a fatal virus looming over your head at all times—you end up with a downward spiral of epic proportions. I wish I had a bedroom door because, right now, I’d get some serious pleasure from slamming it. Repeatedly.
