She snuggled her head into Daisy’s soft breast and had the urge to cup the other breast, too. Then she felt Daisy’s fingers run through her hair, slowly and soothingly. She couldn’t help but completely relax and felt her body drifting off to sleep.

Chapter Thirteen

Drasas felt uneasy as she was driven back to the Dred castle. She and her vampires had no idea where Victorija and Daisy were. They found the bottles of potion disposed of in a bin. Without that tracker, Drasas was at a loss. Anka had ordered her to get the information one way or another, but no one had seen them.

The car came to stop, and Leo opened the door. When she stepped out, she saw her normal guards were not in position at the front door. These were weres—she could smell it. She looked at Leo, and he was equally surprised and worried.

“They say the werewolves in her group are from some Eastern European wolfpacks that joined her,” Leo said.

Drasas felt the uneasiness turn to fear. Was she losing control?

The weres stared at her as she and Leo passed through the door. Drasas walked past some of her clan, who were looking equally worried. She arrived at the double doors that led to the throne room, and again there were werewolves guarding the door. One of them looked her up and down and opened the door for them, making Drasas feel like a visitor in her clan castle.

The first thing she noticed when walking into the throne room was Anka sitting on the Principe’s throne on the dais, with Asha beside her. Arced around the steps were Anka’s guard. Most of the Dred vampires were over to one side of the room, but Anka’s witches and other paranormals were front and centre.

This was meant to be a partnership, she was supposed to be Anka’s right hand, but it looked like Asha was that person. She had lost control. It was a bloodless takeover. But Anka had promised her power beyond her dreams, so losing part of her control of the Dred clan was worth the trade-off, wasn’t it?

Asha whispered in Anka’s ear, and Anka laughed. Anka’s laugh was like honey and brought a tingling feeling all over Drasas’s body. She would give anything to be near Anka and would do whatever it took to stay in her magnificent presence.

But the laughter turned to annoyance when Anka’s gaze fell on Drasas. “I don’t see either Victorija or Daisy MacDougall, Drasas.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Drasas saw Leo slink back behind her a few paces, leaving her to face Anka’s wrath alone.

“We couldn’t find them after Victorija stopped taking your potion.”

Anka’s countenance clouded with anger. “Are you trying to shift blame for your incompetence, Drasas?”
