Byron pushed into Amelia’s wetness and heard her gasp. She quickly followed that up by biting into her wife’s neck. Byron moaned as she did every time she fed on Amelia. It was like pure Elysium. No other human she had fed on tasted and felt like this.
Amelia’s hips began to thrust back against her fingers, and Byron pulled her closer. Byron usually would have been inside her wife with her strap-on, but she wanted this to be gentle, and to bring Amelia tenderly to her orgasm. Byron matched Amelia’s thrusts as she got faster, and it didn’t take long before Amelia’s groans grew, and then she grasped her arm around Byron’s waist and went rigid, as she fell in her orgasm.
Amelia panted as she tried to get her breath back. Byron pulled her fangs from Amelia’s neck and lapped the remaining blood from Amelia’s wound before it began to heal fast—one of the perks of being blood bonded to a born vampire and inheriting the Grand Duchess’s ring, which made Amelia the life force of the Debrek clan.
“Thank you,” Byron said.
“Don’t ever thank me for feeding you, especially when you make me feel so loved,” Amelia said.
Amelia went to turn around, but Byron stopped her. “No, mia cara. Just fall asleep in my arms. That’s all I want.”
“Okay. I love you, sweetheart.”
“I love you, and don’t worry. We’ll find a way out of this and keep Daisy safe. Somehow.”
“Byron?”
Byron wrapped her arm around Amelia’s waist. “What is it?”
“In my morning practice, when I was connecting to the ancestors…”
“Yes?”
“Lucia came to talk to me.”
Byron sat up, leaning on her elbow. “Really? What did she want?”
“She said she wanted me to be the voice of reason in the coming weeks and months.”
“About what?”
“Victorija.”
Chapter Eight
Daisy crept to the bedroom door and looked out the keyhole. There was someone there guarding the door, not to keep her in, but to try to keep the Dreds out. It would have to be the window.
She hated heights but was just going to have to force herself. Daisy walked to the window and opened it. Luckily there was a porch roof just below that she could drop onto. She got out onto the windowsill, and her knees turned to jelly.
“Why am I doing this for a murdering arsehole?” Byron and Amelia would kill her, but after what she’d seen, Daisy couldn’t do anything else. Plus, her bite was making it so hard not to go to Victorija.
Clambering down from height was made all the more difficult by Daisy’s jelly legs, and her intense fear. But she made it down. Daisy quickly dived behind a stone pillar at the back of the house when she saw some of Bhal’s warriors patrolling the garden.
