- About the Author
‘How do you want to do this?’ Jens asks, jerking his head towards the crowd, where hundreds of pairs of eyes are following their every movement. Henry Morell is at the front with Eva-Britt beside him. His expression is grim, and he makes a point of catching Anna’s eye. Marie Sordi and her father are there too.
She looks away, turns to Jens.
‘I want both of them brought in,’ she snaps. ‘Charge Alex Morell with violence and assaulting a police officer, and Bruno Sordi . . .’ She stops, tries to work out exactly what crime Bruno has committed. Decides to take the easy way out for now. ‘Bring him in so he can sober up.’
Jens remains silent for a few seconds; he glances at the front of the stage, then nods. He gestures to two uniformed colleagues who have materialised behind him. ‘Take them both in.’
Alex and Bruno are escorted from the building, and Anna helps the DJ to his feet. She asks if he needs an ambulance, but he shakes his head. ‘OK then, I have to ask you to accompany me to the police station.’ A nod.
She finds his glasses and accompanies him down the steps. She sees Henry Morell marching determinedly in the direction of the door; he isn’t even looking at her now. Unlike plenty of others, including Caia Bianca, Marie Sordi, Bengt Andersson and Call-me.
There is no sign of Agnes; presumably she didn’t see what happened, which is a relief.
The hum of voices is growing louder now as she and the DJ approach the door. She is able to pick up the odd phrase:
‘. . . took down Alex Morell.’
‘And Bruno.’
‘No sign of fear at all.’
‘What the hell got into them?’
‘Didn’t you hear?’
Just as they are about to leave, she spots the skinny, bearded man with the tattoo on his hand. As before he is leaning against the wall with a certain arrogance, a grin on his face, and in spite of the tinted glasses she is pretty sure that he winks at her as she passes by.

Call-me drives her and the DJ, Kristian Persson, to the station. She asks him to go back and find Agnes. Kristian seems to be a perfectly ordinary guy with an ordinary job, who earns a little extra by working as a DJ. He says he has no idea why Alex and Bruno attacked him, claims he doesn’t even know them. There is nothing in his tone of voice or body language to suggest that he is lying. Anna asks him to wait in reception while she goes to the custody suite.
