I was screwed.
We were through the front door when my head came up. I didn’t take in the beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean, clear and unobstructed through the wall of windows. I didn’t admire the open floorplan and understated furniture in the room. Nope, I saw none of that because all of my focus was on the two men standing before me.
Two men.
I’d come to Adam’s place with the promise of pussy eating and screaming orgasms and there were two extra men in the house.
How could I be so stupid?
Fear and anger swirled together until they were one big ball of energy that infused my blood. My feet refused to take another step, necessitating Adam to stop with me.
Adam lied. He was a fucking liar.
“Sweetness—”
My head snapped, my gaze sliced to Adam, and I skewered him with a look that unmistakably communicated, go fuck yourself if you think I’m fucking you in front of these men. Or alternately go fuck yourself if you think I’m fucking them while you watch, you sick motherfucker.
Clearly, Adam misinterpreted my unmistakable silent message.
I knew because the bastard smiled.
“Adam.”
I got no more out before Adam let go of my hand and stepped in front of me blocking my view of the men.
His smile had faded, and his brows were pinched when he snapped, “Seriously?”
“Seriously, what?” I snapped right back.
Then Adam’s face took on a scary look—scary gentle, scary soft, with a big, heaping side of sweet that made my belly flutter.
“Baby, I told you I do not share what’s mine,” he murmured softly.
See! That right there made no sense—none whatsoever. Why would someone who didn’t share pay outrageously expensive membership fees to join a club that was famous for swinging? Of course, there were couples who attended that didn’t share. Some of the twosomes came to watch, some came to be watched, but the vast majority took part in all aspects of the club.
Maybe Adam was in the minority, and he just liked to watch when he was unattached, but if he found a woman who interested him he’d leave the club behind.
And maybe I was being a stupid twit who was making up excuses and justifying my crazy fascination with him.
Adam was still Adam.
I was playing him for information, and I should’ve been grateful that while I was enacting my plan, I wouldn’t have to further humiliate myself. But I wasn’t grateful, I was totally dejected and bitter.
“Then who are those men?” I inquired.
“I gotta say it pisses me off you think I’m not only a liar but a motherfucker who would feed you a line of bullshit to get you to my house then ambush you with something you made clear you had no interest in. I get you don’t know me very well so I’m gonna lay it out straight and hope that this time you believe me. I have less than zero interest in sharing you with anyone. Whatever we have from here on out is for us and us alone. Period. It’s not for the club, it’s not for my boss or my coworker to watch. It’s not for anyone. I get why you’d jump to that conclusion, but I need you to listen to me, hear what I’m telling you, and let it sink in deep. I’m not who you think I am. I would never put you in a situation that made you uncomfortable.”
