“Of course,” I ground out. “Where do I need to pick her up?”

“As soon as we get back to Texas tonight I’m getting her on the first flight out.”

Tomorrow, Mia Young would be back in my life and in my house.

“Does Mia know she’s comin’ to me?”

“It was her suggestion. And you’re the only one stateside I trust.”

Right, Mia was back at her old tricks.

Unfortunately for her, I wasn’t the same twenty-two-year-old idiot she used to know.

“Send me her flight info and make sure she has my number. I’ll get her tomorrow.”

“Thanks, brother, I owe you one.”

Pete disconnected before I could remind him he owed me about twenty.

I tossed my phone back on my nightstand and climbed back into bed. I lay there in the dark wondering who I pissed off, or what bad deed I’d done to warrant such a cruel and unusual punishment. I knew if I thought about it hard enough, I could still feel her soft body pressed against mine. And if I really wanted to torture myself, I could recall her sweet voice whispering ‘I love you’ in my ear right before she walked away.
