I spin slowly in his arms to face him, trapping my lower lip between my teeth. “I could ask you the same thing.”

He chuckles and shakes his head. “I can’t hold a candle to you. No one can.”

His hands snake across my waist to the band of my panties, and he hooks his thumbs under it, teasing me and bringing a fresh wave of goosebumps to my skin. My thighs clench, but I try to shove down my arousal—because as much as I want him to take me right here and now instead of getting ready for this event, I know that can’t happen. My mother and father would be apoplectic if they found out I didn’t take advantage of a big opportunity like this to land a good job after school.

“God, I wish we didn’t have to go to this dumb mixer thing,” I groan as I sway in his arms, staring up into his brown eyes flecked with amber. There are any number of things I’d rather do with him than spend the next couple of hours rubbing elbows with rich law school alumni who are just as disinterested in being there as I am.

“You and me both,” he says before he kisses my shoulder, and I giggle as I pull it away from him and turn back to face the mirror.

“Then you probably shouldn’t be in here distracting me. I need to finish my makeup and get dressed.”

“What do you mean? You think this is distracting?” he asks and brings his lips back to the top of my spine. He kisses all the way down, a peck for each vertebrae, and sinks to his knees until his lips stop just above my tailbone. He bites the plumpness of my ass through my panties, gently but enough to get my attention, and I yelp.

He flashes me a devilish grin in the mirror as he peeks around me. “Oops, sorry. Didn’t mean to distract you.”

Before I can retort, he stands and rests a hand on my lower back, gently pressing me forward against the bathroom sink. He tugs my panties down and slaps my ass, filling the bathroom with a sharp crack and making me yelp. He groans approvingly at the red mark I feel stinging in its wake and drags his fingertips across the sensitive skin.

“Look at that pretty pink handprint,” he murmurs. I suck in a stuttering breath at the intense sensation of his calloused skin dragging against mine.
