I flinch at him invoking the memory. Although Aaron and I had what I thought was an okay relationship at the time, nothing about that weekend compared to even one night with Declan.
The man between my legs must not like hearing about that weekend with my ex either, because as soon as the question leaves Aaron’s mouth, Declan scrapes his teeth across my clit. A shock of pleasure so intense it borders on pain shoots through me, making my thighs tremble.
My nails dig into the edge of the desk, so hard that my knuckles start to turn white. Still, amazingly, Aaron hasn’t noticed anything.
But when a small yelp slips past my lips as Declan starts to trace fast circles around my clit, Aaron looks at me like he thinks I’m losing it. My brain scrambles for an answer that will make any sense but comes up short.
“Sorry. I, uh, smacked my knee on the underside of the desk,” I say lamely, forcing a tight smile as I shift in my seat.
“Oh.” Aaron looks a bit nonplussed. Then he exhales, shaking his head as if I’m being difficult. “Hannah, come on. I know I screwed up, but we were good together. We can be good again if you’d just give me another chance.”
He takes a step closer, his eyes pleading, and then—too bold, too familiar—he moves like he’s going to step around the desk.
A bolt of panic cuts through the pleasure buzzing under my skin.
“Aaron, stop!” I blurt. He freezes, a startled look crossing his face as he takes a step back.
“Listen to me,” I say, steadying myself and squaring my shoulders, even as my entire body thrums with tension. “Getting dinner the other night was a mistake. I shouldn’t have let you think there was a chance to rekindle things. Because we aren’t getting back together. Not now, not ever. No matter how many times you ask me out or plead your case, it’s never going to happen. You need to let it go and move on.”
Aaron blinks at me, seeming stunned. His mouth opens slightly, but no words come out for a second.
“A-are you sure?” he finally mumbles.
Declan answers for me. His mouth closes over my clit, sucking just hard enough to make me hiss out a sharp breath, my fingers tightening around the edges of the desk. The pleasure is blinding, too much and not enough all at once, and if I don’t get Aaron out of here right now, this whole façade is going to fall apart.
And god, I want to come so badly.
