Was Madison waiting for her to leave the bed? In the light of day, Madison probably regretted what she had said last night. Had she said those words just to relax her or maybe make her more willing to have sex with her? “I, um, I should take a shower.” But when she began to rise and lower the sheets, her naked breasts and the rest of the body about to be revealed in the full light of day, her cheeks suddenly burned.

Madison looked at her again but seemed to focus on Sherry’s face instead of her breasts.

Of course. She’s used to much more attractive women in her bed. With a huge lump in her throat, she rolled away from Madison, threw back the sheets, and stood.

“Wait!”

Sherry looked over her shoulder but couldn’t force out even one word.

Madison rolled out of bed in one smooth motion, jumped up, and came to a halt beside Sherry.

It was childish to hide her body from Madison. But still it took all her willpower to turn and face her.

Both completely naked, they stood in front of each other.

Sherry crossed her arms in front of her chest but then let her arms fall to her sides. This was ridiculous. Madison was still looking at just her face. She didn’t care about her body at all. The thought hurt.

They gazed into each other’s eyes, and time seemed to stand still.

Then Madison raised a hand as if to touch her shoulder but withdrew before making contact and balled her hand into a fist.

“What is it?” Sherry whispered. Somehow, she seemed incapable of speaking louder. God, she was so terrified of the answer.

Shakily, Madison said, “I meant every word I said last night.”

Sherry tilted her head. Huh? Then it hit her. She’s afraid and thinks I might have changed my mind. The realization sucked the air out of her lungs and made her legs wobbly. She really loves me! Beaming, she took Madison’s fist between her hands, loosened her fingers, and placed a kiss on each of her knuckles while keeping eye contact.

The expression of surprise on Madison’s face gave way to something like awe or maybe incredulity.

“I really love you, Madison Fielding. That hasn’t changed.” It was crazy. Twenty-four hours ago, she hadn’t even been aware of her feelings, but now there wasn’t a shadow of a doubt about it.

Madison pulled her close with shaking hands, and their naked bodies touched all along their lengths.

It was intoxicating, and her heart pumped wildly in her chest at the contact.

Slowly, Madison pulled back, holding her gently by the shoulders. “You must think me insane, but I can’t imagine how I could ever live without you.”
