The gentle but firm touch caused Sherry’s legs to feel like overcooked spaghetti. Ignoring her physical reaction, she placed a hand on Madison’s shoulder.
Madison spread her hand over Sherry’s waist as if she wanted to touch as much of Sherry as possible, or as if she wanted to ensure she was leading her effectively over the dance floor, given Sherry’s inexperience. “Is it okay to hold you like this?”
Their gazes met.
Being so close to Madison made her head spin, but she nodded anyway. Her reaction had to be because Jake was most likely watching. What else?
Madison’s eyes bore into her as if she could see into her soul.
Sherry’s mouth went dry. Even if she had wanted to, she would have been unable to break the contact. It was as if Madison had hypnotized her.
Just separated by some thin pieces of fabric, Sherry could feel Madison’s heart beating as wildly as her own.
Slowly, they started swaying to the music. It was more a holding-and-cuddling movement than dancing.
Madison’s breasts were rising and falling in rapid succession. It didn’t feel threatening or uncomfortable. But it caused a heat deep within Sherry that chased all thoughts away.
Her eyes fell shut when she leaned her head on Madison’s shoulder.
They kept swaying in a slow rhythm, losing themselves in the soft music. It was incredibly peaceful. But there was also something else that she couldn’t put her finger on.
When Madison’s hold on her waist tightened, Sherry looked up at her.
Madison smiled shyly at her.
Those lips.
When Madison leaned down, Sherry held her breath.
But instead of kissing her, she whispered in Sherry’s ear, “I can see her now.”
“Huh?”
For a second, Sherry thought she could see in Madison’s eyes the same confusion she felt herself before Madison said hoarsely, “Danielle’s crush. She, um, she’s standing somewhere behind you.”
Her breath tickled Sherry’s ear and was like a cold shower at the same time.
“Oh.”
Madison chuckled, but it sounded forced. “I’m not surprised Danielle is switching to women for her.”
Sherry pushed Madison around until she could see the woman in question.
She had an athletic build and blonde hair done up in a ponytail. And she was talking to a dark-haired young man, gesticulating wildly.
“Wow,” Sherry whispered.
“Oh yeah.” Madison turned them back around. “Sorry to obscure your view. But we wouldn’t want you to fall for her too.”
“Very funny. Do you think she’s—”
“Shit! Kiss me.” Without waiting for an answer, Madison’s mouth covered hers.
Sherry’s eyes fell shut, and all thoughts fled her mind. If possible, her knees became even wobblier, and she held on to Madison with all her might. Her whole body was on fire, and if she didn’t know any better, she would almost have thought she was aroused.
