“Not that I know of,” I told her.
She eyed me and asked, “You’re still loose like that?”
I shook it all off and said, “Nah, I’m just bullshitting. I’m still out here in full career mode. In fact, Marcus flew me out.”
She gave me the eye again. “Have you been over to his mansion?”
I smiled at her. “I was over there earlier today.”
She smiled back and said, “Things have changed a lot, haven’t they?”
I thought about it before I spoke. I said, “Not really. If you think about it, we’ve always been hos and we’ve always had opportunities. People just respond to it differently when they get older.”
She laughed and said, “You know what, that’s so true. Now let me get back over to this man before he starts thinking I’m ready to fuck you over here for old time’s sake. And you’re right, ain’t a damn thing changed.”
She said, “Well, I just wanted to stop over and say hi to you.”
I nodded to her. “Thanks.”
“So, who are you in here with, yourself ?” she asked me before she left.
I grinned and answered, “Trouble.” I wanted to remind myself as much.
Shauna laughed. “Well, you need to stay out of that.” And she faded back into the party.
TaShay and Tan appeared soon after.
I asked them, “Did you get it all out of your system.”
“Fuck them motherfuckers,” Tan spat. “They ain’t no-fuckin’-body.”
I figured it was the alcohol talking. She definitely wasn’t driving me anywhere.
TaShay grinned and said, “We couldn’t get past the guards.”
Of course you couldn’t, I thought. There was too many people in there. The stars would have gotten mobbed if security didn’t do what they were supposed to do.
“So, are we ready to go now?” I asked them.
TaShay nodded.
Tan said, “You’re driving.”
“I already know,” I told her.
“How you know?” she asked me while we headed for the door.
“I wasn’t gonna let you drive.”
She looked at me and said, “Well, how are we getting home then?”
“Somebody’s gonna have to sober up,” I told her. “I know I’m not driving down to San Diego tonight.”
“Nobody’s driving to San Diego tonight,” TaShay told the both of us. We were back outside the club on the pavement. Neither one of them could walk straight. Tan even started walking in the wrong direction.
I said, “The car is this way.”
“Oh, shit, yeah,” she mumbled.
TaShay started to laugh at her.
“What are you laughing at, bitch! You’re drunk, too?”
“Not as drunk as you are.”
It must have taken us half an hour just to get back to the car.
As soon as we all climbed in, I adjusted the seat behind the wheel to drive. TaShay sat in the passenger seat, and Tan crashed in the back.
“So, where are we going now?” Tan asked me.
TaShay answered, “I already told you where we’re going, girl.”
“Well, he didn’t even invite us yet.”
