“You would just be doing you, and having a good time, you know.”
“Yeah, and even then, I would only get involved with a guy that I would see again.”
I said, “Okay, so I’ll have no problem hooking up with you again, huh?”
She laughed against my chest. “You better. Or I might just have to hunt you down and…make you do it.”
Guilt-Ridden
EARLY THAT MORNING, I could just imagine how many phone calls I needed to make. Or did I really need to make them? Who did I owe a phone call to? I was a free-ass man. Nevertheless, it was only seven in the morning, and I was up wondering about everything, while Victoria was still sound asleep.
For whatever reason, I kept wondering what had happened to Rachel. Did she go off and find some other guy to spend her night with, or was she just after me? Why was she after me so much anyway? I figured it had a lot to do with my disinterest in her. A lot of women were turned on by that. I even felt that Victoria had fallen for my elusiveness. But what did I owe her now?
Shit! Why am I even thinking about this? I asked myself.
Honestly, it all came back down to Andrea. If that damn Corey hadn’t told me how her life had changed for the worse on account of me, including my sister’s information on an aborted child, and then meeting Andrea for myself with her so-called friend in tow, I would have continued to live my life without feeling confused about everything. But Andrea didn’t look that bad to me. In fact, she looked good. So why was I still thinking about beating myself up over my actions?
Without waking Victoria, I turned my cell phone back on just to check my messages. Eight more calls had popped up; three from Rachel, another two from TaShay, and three from Danni.
When you got ’em good, you got ’em good, I thought to myself with a half-smile.
I figured I would call Danni first, as soon as Victoria was back on her way home.
When Victoria finally awoke, I had already taken a shower and was nearly done packing my clothes. It was close to ten o’clock, and time for me to start making my way to the airport.
She stretched and grinned at me from the bed. “Wow, you really wore me out last night. You have a lot of energy.”
I grinned back at her. “What did you expect? A busy lifestyle needs energy.”
“Yeah, it does, doesn’t it?” She climbed out of bed and stretched again in her naked splendor. Victoria was put together really well. I didn’t want to say it, but her tight body reminded me of Playboy magazine spreads, and that was a good thing.
“Well, I guess this is it…until next time,” she commented.
She seemed optimistic and uncertain of herself at the same time. I could understand it though. For all she knew, it could have been strictly a one-night stand. Only time would tell if we would get together in the future.
