Her friend smiled in agreement. “Yeah.”
I said, “Yeah, I know,” just to get a laugh out of them. “But let me make this trip to the restroom, and I’ll get right back to you,” I told them.
I quickly moved on and noticed Andrea standing nearby with her friend Brazil. I worried they might be ready to leave early. Like a crazy man, I headed right for them before making it to the men’s room.
“Hey, how did you get a name like Brazil, anyway?” I asked her friend to break the ice. I planned to play a game of hit and run. I wanted to get the information I needed from Andrea so I could move on with my night and with my life without letting her screw up my mood with all of her extra baggage.
Her friend smiled and answered, “My parents told me I was consummated in Brazil during their fourth anniversary.”
I nodded. “Oh, so you had traveling parents.”
“We were privileged, yes.”
I guess she was an upwardly mobile, regal woman, too. She had those airs about her. But I didn’t care. I just wanted to get back to Andrea.
I looked Andrea in her eyes again and said, “Just a few seconds if I may.”
She changed the subject and said, “Your friends are looking for you.”
I didn’t have the time for those games. I didn’t even look to see who she was referring to.
“Just a second. Please.”
I wasn’t really begging, I was just being polite.
Brazil said, “Obviously, Terrance, the second you ask for is maybe a second too much.”
I had to ignore that, I really did. Because if I took it to heart and responded, the results would not get me closer to my goal.
Andrea asked her, “Are you ready?”
“If you are then let’s go,” her friend answered.
I was about ready to lose my mind in there. All I needed was one second from her to ask her one question in private, so that I could move on with my life. I needed closure.
To add insult to injury, Andrea commented, “Have a good night with your new friends, Terrance,” as she walked away.
That BITCH! I thought. She was murdering me. I know she knew what I wanted to ask her. Why else would she be such an asshole about giving me one second? She had planted that lethal seed with my sister to explode whenever it exploded.
I finally looked across the room and saw not only Victoria and Jill waiting, but Rachel and her friends were not far away from them.
I took a deep breath and continued on my way to the restroom. Once inside the stall, thoughts about Andrea were ruining my state of mind. It was obvious she was going to make me work for any answers to my many questions. And it looked like Corey was right; she had changed her sexual preference.
I finished my business and went to wash my hands at the sink.
