Turning sharply around, he made for the exit.
“Ethan!” She called, forcing him to pause by the door. “Surely what Juliet did was nothing short of disgraceful, but you must consider the child she begot in all of this.”
He stiffened —Mrs. Winston knew about Elizabeth?!
“Juliet wrote, a few weeks ago. She told us about the baby and I'm sure that now that she's writing again, if you hold on but a few more days...”
“Enough!” He roared, turning around to face her. “You will not come into my house and address me like your servant! Neither you, nor your prostituting niece! I am done with your family! ” He covered the distance that stood between them and glared angrily at her. He watched as the blood drained from her face.
“I have searched for Juliet all of these months, Lord Williams, believe me! The foolish child's decision to run off and leave a man who has the power to ruin her only family has left me quite confused.”
He leaned back, understanding then her reason for showing up in his home; she was afraid. He owned the manor she lived in with her husband and she knew that once the marriage ties between the two families was finally broken, she, as well as her scheming husband, would be left with no choice but to vacate the premises —Mrs. Winston only showed up for her own selfish interest. He thought that if she hadn't shown up, he would have been willing to allow the couple's continued stay in the manor, but as he stared at her, he decided he was done with not just Juliet, but her entire family as well.
“You have overstayed your welcome. I want you and your ungrateful husband to leave my manor, but for now, I want you to leave my house.”
“Your marriage tie with Juliet isn’t broken, Lord Williams.” Her eyes threatened. “It is illegal for you to be wed to another woman...”
He took one menacing step toward the old gold digger, and leaned down, his nose almost kissing hers as anger raced through his entire body with alarming speed. “You have a week to vacate my manor or I shall show up and I shall throw you out myself. Whatever agreement we had ended the day Juliet walked out of those doors.” He said. Straightening, he held her gaze. “I shall say this one more time, Mrs. Winston; you have overstayed your welcome.”

Chapter Twenty One

Elaine Winston had never, in her entire existence, been so humiliated. She had practically been escorted out of Lord William's home and had been told to vacate his manor —the nerves on that vile man! She gathered her skirt in her hands and climbed into the carriage, ignoring the hand offered to her by the footman.
