“Until the next time.” Kenilworth grinned.

Charlotte and Grace came up to them, taking their arms.

Grace glanced at the French windows. “Well?”

“He proposed.” Matt glanced at his friend and raised a brow.

“He did,” Kenilworth confirmed. “Although, to do him credit, he did say he had to talk to you.”

“Very proper.” Charlotte nodded. “I thought he would be perfect for her.”

“I agree,” Grace said. “It was just something about the way he was willing to listen to her. I noticed it when she helped him with his dependents.”

“Not to mention putting up with us,” Kenilworth added. “I warned him he’d better accept her as she was, and he didn’t run away.”

Matt was proud of the way everyone in the family worked together and helped one another.

Grace appeared thoughtful. “He does seem to like the children and the Danes.”

“Excellent.” He grinned. “One down and two to go.”

His darling wife scowled at him. “You should not think about them as tasks.”

“My love, I will not rest well until they are all safely wed.” He drew her closer to him. “We will have four years until the next come out. Then Mary will be the last for a long while.”

“Don’t get so excited.” Kenilworth’s dry tone drew Matt’s attention. “In no time at all we have four girls coming out.”

Matt mentally counted them. “Three.”

“Four.” Kenilworth looked at Matt. “Do you really think Elizabeth will not insist on coming out with the others?”

Hell and damnation. He was right.

“I have Theo and Mary to deal with first.” At least the boys wouldn’t be any trouble.

Grace nudged him. “Here they come.”

“Worthington.” Montagu bowed. “I need to have a word with you.”

Matt was glad to see Eleanor’s face alight with happiness. He would give the same answer to Montagu he always did. “My study no later than nine o’clock tomorrow morning.”

Montagu grinned at Eleanor. “I’ll be there.”

Eleanor had never been so happy in her life. She was marrying not only a gentleman who met all her requirements but they were in love! Her sisters hugged her while her brothers and brothers-in-law slapped Montagu on his back and congratulated him.

The prelude to a dance began. “We did not miss the supper dance.”

Alice gave her a look. “If you had been gone that long, Matt would have had our brothers looking for you.”

“He would have, wouldn’t he?” Eleanor said. “But now I can waltz with my betrothed.”

John slid his hand down her back to her waist and frissons of pleasure raced through her. “Shall we, my love?”

Her eyes met his, and she could see how much he loved her. “We shall.”
