Chapters (17)
With Earthen Wall still behind him, there was nowhere for Lucas to escape to. The water itself was harmless, but the room was practically soaked at this point, and the last few Exploding Tears had formed a giant puddle that was constantly creeping ever closer to the slowly moving Lightning Pillars. With the puddle in front of him, the wall behind him, and Lagrand himself well-defended, Lucas was basically trapped. When Liu reached him, he knew it was time to make his Hail Mary play. He threw an Earthen Wall in front of Lagrand so he couldn’t see anything, buying himself a few seconds to talk to Liu.
“What’s the plan?” Liu asked as she jumped over the puddle and landed next to him.
“We need to use those shields against him,” Lucas said, referring to the large floating tower shields of Ice.
“But how?”
“We’re going to attack him from that direction, and he won't suspect the shields to break, so if we can get through, it’s our chance to win.”
“Huh?” Liu seemed a little confused. “Even with my strongest attack, I’m not confident that I can break one. Your attacks are all getting blocked. What plan do you actually have?”
“Liu, I need you to listen to me.” Lucas rested a hand on her shoulder and looked her straight in the eyes. “And trust me. I’m going to give you the power you need. You just have to focus on one of those tower shields. I’ll provide backup and try to give you cover with spells, but he can counter everything I throw, so all I need from you is to get a clear shot at that boss, and then you just go for it.”
“Got it,” Liu said as she started to run back to the other side of the room. The farther she could run, the faster she would end up moving, and the more damage she would do, so she was placing herself at the far corner of the room and lining herself up.
Just on time, Lagrand shattered Lucas’s Earthen Wall with another Ice Fist, revealing two Lightning pillars that were circling far too close to Lucas for comfort. Lucas didn’t want to lose sight of Liu, but he had to evacuate the area since the lightning was dangerously close to hitting the puddle that he was now standing in.
