Wait, I made it just in time, Lucas thought, but that thought didn’t settle his nerves. He might have made it, but he had made it without his party. There was no one to heal him, and there was no one to assist him. He was going to be on his own.

“Alright,” Lucas began, pointing to an open window in the keep. “Set me down in that room. I need to go find the lord and do what I can to help him.”

“As you wish,” Linnaeus said. The winged primate swooped down and tossed Lucas through the window with neither grace nor consideration. “There you go! I would normally stay, but my contract is to defend your territory, not his. I shall wish you the best of luck, though I know a noble spirit such as yourself will not need it. Take care! And save me a few eyeballs!” Linnaeus then vanished into the sky once more, leaving Lucas by himself in Rowland’s manor.

“So, it’s just me,” Lucas thought aloud as he dusted himself off and looked around the room he was in. He was a little surprised by the wooden furniture, decorations, and other objects in the room: they all reminded him somewhat of the Alfar patterns he had seen in Waldberg. “Do all of the nobles know about that village? No, that doesn’t make sense.” Lucas shook off the idea as he quickly exited the room in search of the throne room.

Unlike his own, this manor was much larger but even more poorly defended. The hallways were empty, without so much as a single guard or servant or worker to tell Lucas which way to head. Is that because they’re all on maximum alert, preparing to handle the rebellion? He wished that his little Dungeon Menu HUD included a map of this place as well as his own just so that he knew where he was going. Having that guide tool was a feature he was beginning to grow accustomed to, and now that he was once more back in the world of realistic fantasy without the fancy maps and tools that being a dungeon lord provided, it was more annoying than before when he hadn’t known the convenience.
