The last point he spent was on the skill Weaponized Rear. Since Linnaeus was now able to move about stealthily, he wanted to make sure that the flying primate was able to deal the greatest amount of damage in the shortest period of time, and it seemed like a worthwhile investment for boosting his close-ranged attacks.

More and more options were opened up as Lucas made his final selections, but since he didn’t have the Evolution Points to choose them, and since he didn’t want to tease himself by seeing what he couldn’t have, he backed out of the menus. They would be there when he came back later, waiting for him like wrapped presents, ready to be enjoyed when he had points to modify this creature further.

“Wow,” Viola, Nick, and Bonnie exclaimed as they watched Linnaeus morph before their eyes.

“Excellent choices indeed. You have done well!” Linnaeus said, looking over his own body and admiring the new changes. “I cannot wait to see what metamorphoses await me next!”

Given the way the evolution chain looked, six arms and six tails look like they might be in your future. “Well, no matter what it is, I’m going to have to trust my people and my land to your protection, Linnaeus,” Lucas said. “I have to go stop a rebellion and save some nobility from destruction.” Satisfied with his changes and the contract, Lucas moved Linnaeus to his manor using the Dungeon Menu. He placed him right on top of the manor itself so that he would fly around the place as if he were a gargoyle protecting his castle.

Since Lucas wasn’t in the dungeon when he made the change, Linnaeus didn’t just vanish before his eyes. Instead, the flying primate grabbed Lucas again and hoisted him into the air. “If you have work to do, then we shall go!” Linnaeus said, flying off with Lucas in his arms.

Lucas tried to object, but the words were jumbled by the onrush of air, leaving him incoherently babbling about nothing in particular. Even after having taken only a single flight with the primate, it was instantly obvious that the speed upgrade was in effect. The air whipped past Lucas’s eyes and ears and rushed into his mouth, so he eventually just gave up his protestations and fell silent instead.
