Well, hopefully, the group will rush back to the keep and meet up with me, Lucas thought as he was whisked through the air. He knew he should have felt somewhat emasculated by the way he was being cradled in the creature’s arms, but his lazy attitude left him with a rather positive impression of the experience. It was an easy way to travel, and the scenery was beautiful. Staring at the clouds as Linnaeus tore through them reminded him of the months that he spent with Liu—when he didn’t know she was Liu—soaking in the sun while listening to her talk about castle life. He just listened to her. Although, now that I put it in the right light, I suppose all those tasks she was complaining about weren’t exactly castle problems but probably her issues adjusting to her job as a GM. Lucas remembered well how much she had mentioned hating her boss. He had just assumed that she had meant Dray von Maidbanger, but it could very well have been some jerk at her office who was constantly perving on her.

“Here we are,” Linnaeus said as he set Lucas down in front of the manor. The trip to find Linnaeus had taken half an hour, but the flight back had only taken a few minutes. Linnaeus was, without a doubt, the fastest mode of transportation on the entire island.

“Thanks for the lift,” Lucas replied. “I’m going to take care of a few things, but then I’ll be heading out. Do you think you can take care of the place while I’m gone?”

“Without a doubt. No one shall enter this establishment without your say so!” Linnaeus bragged, pounding his chest. “I will show those common thugs and peasants the nobility of the sky.”

Lucas watched Linnaeus take to the sky. This guy definitely thinks very highly of himself, but given that he has a Loot Level of 10 and that the party who came to defeat him had eight players, it makes sense. With how the loot system works and how many parties one has to wipe out in a row to reach his Loot Level, he has to be nearly undefeated. After the modifications I’ve given him, he can swoop down and kill someone before the enemy even notices he’s there. Those words are definitely not empty gestures.
