[Blue] Shifting Tides of Blue (4 Evolution Points): Linnaeus prides himself on the fact his coat of fur and his feathers are both close to the color of the sky, but neither of them has matched it yet. With this evolution, Linnaeus’s exterior will not only be several shades of blue closer to the sky’s own color, but it will also slowly shift throughout the day to continuously mimic the color of the sky, changing from a whitish blue in the day to a very dark blue at night, making him significantly harder to spot.
[Grey] Thrown Ambitions (4 Evolution Points): This option will shorten Linnaeus’s arms, allowing him to use the top two arms to throw objects with both speed and precision as well as use projectile-based weapons such as a bow in a manner not possible by other non-human primates. When selected, the melee damage that Linnaeus does will take a slight penalty.
[Grey] Weaponized Rear (2 Evolution Points): This option will add a sharp spike to the end of each of Linnaeus’s tails. These talons will significantly improve his melee combat capabilities.
[Grey] Mouthing off (4 Evolution Points): This option will replace Linnaeus’s sharp tearing beak with a much stronger standardized primate jaw, trading in the precise sharpness of the beak with a more crushing bite, allowing Linnaeus to do significantly higher damage to armored foes.
Looking at all the options, Lucas didn’t know exactly what to pick. Given the way Linnaeus had used him during combat, treating him like a handheld Lightning-firing machine gun, it might be best to make sure the creature had some type of ranged ability. But he wasn’t certain. Most people considered melee combat to be more honorable than ranged, and speed would make melee a much greater threat.
Yeah, speed is what is needed, Lucas decided, spending two points to select Four Arms, Why Not Four Wings? as the first evolution. When he picked it, he was pleased to see three more options open up. Two were centered around feather types, explaining how one slightly boosted Linnaeus’s glide speed, and the other one slightly boosted his mobility, but Lucas had no idea what the system was talking about. The last option sacrificed a small amount of speed but gave Linnaeus the type of feathery wings that many snow owls have, allowing him to fly silently through the sky. Seeing that option available for two more Evolution Points and Shifting Tides of Blue, which would give Linnaeus built-in camouflage while flying, Lucas couldn’t help but take both. This left him with two points, but he was immensely pleased that his new dungeon monster would now be super stealthy.
