‘I love you too,’ I said back.
I hung up the phone and fell back onto the couch. My nerves felt like needles poking through my flesh. I understood my mom’s concern and was grateful we were speaking more again but I also needed answers and the FBI certainly weren’t giving me enough of them. Against my mom’s wishes I grabbed my laptop and navigated to IntelliFind, the website Travis had told me about. After inputting everything I knew about Adam – his age and current location – the website was able to find him. While I waited for the report to be generated, I jumped up and poured a glass of wine. By the time I came back to the couch I had an email with a link to view the report. The page came up and gave several known addresses for Adam Dominio and my hopes spiked. While Adam and his mother had moved to California like Cris and Rosie had mentioned, Adam had moved back to the East Coast in the late eighties. Since then, he’d lived all across the Tri-State area, including New Jersey, upstate New York and Connecticut in addition to several Massachusetts addresses. He wasn’t on the sex offender database but when I clicked the criminal search button, I gasped. Adam had two records. One for assault in New Jersey and another for drug possession. Both items could point to him being a viable suspect. Assault: clearly, he was violent. Drugs: the killer had access to ketamine. A wave of relief washed over me as I mentally thanked Travis for the suggestion. While it didn’t prove anything, it meant he was still a feasible option. I didn’t have to give up on Cris quite yet.
Still yearning for something else to ease my worries over Cris and since I had a blueprint of towns where Adam had lived, I searched online yearbook photos from the high schools in those towns during the span of years Adam would have been a student. I barely noticed the clock tick over to another hour as I stretched my achy arms and flexed my stiff fingers. I kept scrolling until suddenly, I found something. A grainy black and white high school yearbook photo of the Franklin High School AV Club, that listed Adam Dominio on the bottom row. From his address history and his age it seemed likely that this was the same Adam. So, he’s good with technology too.
