‘I just can’t believe I’m related to this monster,’ I said, my head spinning. ‘And now, knowing there’s a possibility that he’s resurfaced …’

‘I know it goes without saying, Liz, but do please be careful. For years, I’ve looked at the photos, autopsy reports and details of what TSK has done and it’s truly a nightmare. If the FBI are warning you to keep your distance, you should listen. But I also know what it feels like to need answers to a mystery that’s haunting you.’

‘I know it’s dangerous,’ I conceded, ‘but he’s gone this long without the FBI catching him, what’s to say they’ll actually get him this time? What if I never learn who in my family is too dangerous to get close to?’

‘I see your point,’ she said after a brief pause. ‘I’m not sure I feel comfortable sharing much more at this stage until we see how things play out with these new developments but I’ll give you one more point from the profile.’

I was on the edge of my seat, eager for more details. ‘Beyond his intelligence,’ she continued, ‘we also believe TSK to be good with technology. He’s left so little evidence behind in both his abductions and his disposal of the bodies that he must have some understanding of surveillance and how to avoid detection, especially with all the recent advancements in technology. He would’ve had to adapt efficiently to the changing times in order to continue murdering. I know that’s not a lot more to go on but I hope I’ve been able to shed a bit more light.’

A vague image of the man in the shadows was starting to form in my mind. ‘You did, and I can’t thank you enough. I know I need to be careful but any little bit of information is a huge help. Would it be okay if I reached out again if I have a question or anything major progresses in the case?’

‘Absolutely,’ Beccah replied kindly. ‘This number is my cell, so feel free to shoot me a text anytime and if I can help out, I will.’

‘I really can’t thank you enough,’ I said, grateful to have a kindred spirit on my side who understood my need for the truth.

‘Thank you for sharing your story with me too, Liz. Have a great rest of your night and stay safe.’

‘Thanks, Beccah. Goodnight.’
