With that, she hung up. Reagan dropped her phone on her desk and held her head in her hands. I so don’t need this. Instead of heading home for a quiet night of reading a book and enjoying a couple beers, she sat down and opened her laptop again. An email from Maureen was waiting in her inbox, which contained all the information she had asked for. At least she finally did some work on this. Jill had taken the lead on planning a party for a man she obviously had issues with, even though she had her own job to balance as well. Reagan couldn’t imagine the stress Jill was under to make this party perfect. Now Reagan would be giving her one more thing to deal with and she didn’t picture it going well.
Within an hour, Reagan had everything recorded where it needed to be and a new invoice printed out. She picked up her phone and was about to call Jill’s office, but thought better of that. She needed the payment for the invoice anyway. What better way than to give it to her in person? Seeing Jill again would be an added bonus.
After being directed to Touchpoint Media’s offices on the fifth floor, Reagan stepped out of the elevator. She stopped a woman rushing past with a stack of folders in her arms. “Can you tell me where I can find Jillian Jacobs’s office?”
Her eyes widened briefly, and she pointed in the direction she had come from. “Down that way. Her office is at the end of the hall.”
“Thanks.” She found the main door opened into a small waiting area. She stepped in front of the desk on her left, occupied by someone who was bent over an open drawer. She looked down at the nameplate, happily taking note of their pronouns listed on it. “Hi.”
“Hi. Can I help you?”
Reagan held out her hand. “I’m Reagan Murphy from the Taylor Murphy Group. I was hoping to speak with Jill.”
“I’m Ash, Jill’s assistant,” they replied, shaking Reagan’s hand. “I’m sorry, but she didn’t come into the office today. Is it something I can help you with? Did you need to schedule a meeting?”
Reagan glanced at Jill’s closed door and noticed the lights were out. “No, I need an invoice paid.”
“I know she was working from home today. If you want, I can give you her address.”
“Um, I don’t want to bother her at home.”
“It’s no bother. She would want to get it taken care of. I’m sure you know how she is by now.”
Reagan cleared her throat. “Well…”
Ash laughed. “I’ll take that as a yes.” They ripped a small sheet of paper from a notebook and started scribbling. “Here you go.”
“Thanks, Ash. Have a good one.”
“You too.”
