- About the Author
But why?
“So,” Brendon said, resting his arms down and studying Megan. “I think the best course of action now would be to call him and apologise.”
“What?” Megan was horrified at the thought. “I can’t do that, what the bloody hell would I say?” She paused. “And besides, I don’t have his number.”
“We can soon get that from the studio.” Brendon waved his hand in a circle as though it was a minor detail.
“Yes, then you can call and say that you woke and remembered somewhere urgent you had to be,” Georgie suggested.
“That’s lame,” Brendon said.
“And he knows I was only working at the office today.” Megan sighed. “So that won’t cut it.”
“How about you woke in turmoil?” Brendon said. “He was so amazing, your night together was so utterly mind-blowing that your head and heart weren’t functioning in unison. You had to get away, figure out your feelings and not be distracted by his incredible beauty and prowess between the sheets.”
“Really?” Georgie said. “That’s the best you can come up with?”
“Well, it’s not that far-fetched.” Brendon huffed. “I’ve had nights so good that the next day I’ve hardly been able to think straight. Moments, like flashbacks, keep attacking my mind. Little shivers run over my arms and tighten my belly. It’s just memories, but still, enough to make my brain struggle to behave normally.”
Megan thought about what Brendon had just said. She did indeed keep having delicious memories of her time with James. Everything about him had been so in tune with her. It was as if their pheromones matched—his scent, his taste, his touch—it had all been exactly what she’d needed.
She crossed her legs. They’d fitted so perfectly. It had been like a wonderful dance they hadn’t needed to rehearse, both had instinctively known what the other wanted and needed.
She sighed and glanced at her mobile. Perhaps she should give him a ring. Figure out what to say, then call and apologise. If she were really lucky he’d maybe agree to meeting at Frank’s for a drink sometime.
“So, who did you last have a night like that with, Brendon?” Georgie asked. “One that blew your mind.”
“That would be telling.” Brendon scooped up Gucci and hugged him close. He snuggled his face into Gucci’s neck.
“So tell,” Georgie said.
“That guy from Ritzy Rainbows.”
