- About the Author
“Why, what happened this morning?” Georgie asked.
“Bloody hell.” Brendon clapped his hands over his face. “All this admiring of the new ring and the fuss about Megan and Hot Guy going on a date and we forgot to tell you.”
“Tell me what?” Georgie looked between Brendon and Megan.
“Our Megan was only the star of the Ralph and Jayne show this morning.”
“What?” Georgie’s mouth hung open.
“You heard right,” Brendon said, eyes wide. “There was a last minute fashion opening—God bless nasty doses of diarrhoea and vomiting—that needed filling and I managed to get Winter Shoes a plug.”
“Blimey, that’s awesome.” Georgie looked at Megan. “And you went on? Live TV?”
“Yes, that’s how come I was at the studio canteen and bumped into James, literally.”
“Ahh…it’s making sense now,” Georgie said with a nod. “And he was there because he’s a hotshot director.”
“Exactly.”
“Anyways.” Brendon flapped his hands. “Our Megan was a hit on the show. Ralph loved her, he said so afterwards.”
“He did?” Megan asked.
“Yes, he sought me out, said he’s hoping you’ll be on the show again.”
“That would be great.”
“I’m working on it, I’m working on it.” Brendon winked. “She really is a natural,” he said to Georgie. “Gorgeous, obviously, to look at, but also confident and thinks fast. She kept up with Ralph’s ad-lib style of presenting fabulously.”
“Do you think?” Megan glowed with the praise.
“Hell yes, he can be a tricky bugger. I’ve seen him reduce other presenters to tears, not on screen, but afterwards, because he’d made them look stupid. But he likes you, you gave as good as you got and you weren’t in awe of him.”
“Well I tried.”
“Watch this space.” He tapped the side of his nose. “I have my fingers in many pies and Winter Shoes is a brand I absolutely believe in.”
“And has it made a difference?” Georgie asked. “Any rush in sales this afternoon?”
Megan indicated her laptop. “Yes, it’s amazing. I’ve had a rush of new orders plus re-stocking. I’ve been hard at it all afternoon and still not finished. I might have to finally take someone else on, to help with the admin side of things.”
“Yes, you should, I’ve been saying that for ages,” Georgie said. “It would leave you free for designing and exploring new promotional avenues. You spend too much time on the donkey work that a secretary could do for you.”
“Mmm, I know you’re right.”
“Do you want me to have a look through our files?” Georgie paused. “I know you’ve been putting it off, but the time has come.”
“Yes… Are you allowed to do that, though? Look through the agency files?”
