- About the Author

This is what happens when one trusts her best friend. And when said BFF has an excellent memory. She uses the truth to hit me hard with it. It kind of dims the little win match I had only a few minutes ago.
“So, explain to me the logistics of this operation.” She puts her hands on her hips and gives me a motherly glare. “We’re here to take him down?”
“Not exactly, but if we can accomplish making his life a living hell while we take over the West, I’ll be happier than I was yesterday.”
She laughs. The bitch. Is she seriously laughing at what I just said?
“I bet you’ll be back with him by this time next year,” she dares to say.
“What do you mean, back with him?” I ask, trying to find a better come back.
Why do I want to get back with him? We were never together.
But I don’t say either out loud, because I’m sure she’s going to twist them like a knife, and I’ll end up more confused than I’ve been since I found he’s my next-door neighbor.
“As in, meet Miller Archer, the owner of 23 Media Inc,” she pauses and licks her lips, “and my hot boyfriend.”
This time, I’m the one laughing. “Please, like either one of us would want to rekindle whatever it is we had.”
“You didn’t see him looking at you. You might want to castrate him, but he wants you.”
I huff. “As if. That man gets laid every weekend. He’s never with the same woman. Trust me, this time next year, I’ll be celebrating the first anniversary of this branch and maybe dating someone who has my same interests.”
Miller hates families, relationships, and is allergic to commitment.
He’s not the guy for me.
“Sure, and this time next year I’ll be shacked up to some rugged rancher type,” she says.
“You’re ridiculous,” I groan.
As if I’m going to even get close to fucking Miller Archer. That’s when I remember we have a little pest next door, and though calling the exterminator would be the best way to get rid of it, I am the one removing myself from the situation.
“I need you to find me a new place. The one I’m at won’t work for me,” I request, as I set my laptop on top of my desk and get ready to work.
The equipment doesn’t arrive until later today, but New York and London are already working, and I need to make sure they can reach me.
“Whoa, since when did we become a diva? There’s nothing wrong with your place and whatever you think is wrong, we can fix it.”
She turns on her tablet, gives me an I don’t like you at the moment glare, and asks, “What do you need to report?”
