Kavya cackles. “You truly are an evil mastermind. Going straight to Dominic’s place of work, huh?”
I know she’s joking, but for the first time I get an inkling of Bubble Guts specifically about the plan to win Dominic back. Is this evil? Am I being a mastermind? I can’t be, right? This is for true love, for the couple that’s meant to be together to have that rom-com happy ending.
“It’s not evil!” I say, too much guilt in my voice. “I’m trying to remind Dominic of what he forgot.”
“Well, you know how I feel about that.” The laugh is gone out of Kavya’s voice. “D-Bag doesn’t deserve you. But if this is what you truly want, I guess I have no choice but to tag along. Only to be sure he doesn’t hurt you again.”
“He won’t,” I insist. “It’s not like that. He’s not like that. He’s just off and I’ve got to get him back on track.”
“If you say so.” Kavya’s words are soaked in doubt.
“Just wait until tomorrow,” I say. “You’ll see.”
Because if there’s anything I know, it’s how a couple is supposed to end up together. I’ve got the perfect setups to make it happen and the shot list to get what I want, and I’ve just got to be the director to get to that happy ending.

“So you’re just going to walk on by him while he’s on a bus and that’s going to be enough to make him want you back?” Kavya doesn’t sound so convinced from the front seat of her car, while I hold on for dear life in the back. I’m trying with all my might not to throw up all over the gray seats, but we’re about fifty-fifty on whether I’ll be successful or not.
“Exactly,” Sean says. “When he realizes he could see us anywhere, and that I’m sharing the love for Hollywood we used to share together with somebody else, it’ll remind him of how we have the same dreams and goals and passions. He’ll see that throwing that away is just stupid.”
It couldn’t possibly be that easy for Dominic and Sean to get back together, could it? I glance up at the moon, its waning gibbous phase letting me know I’m almost a week into my time on land. Could I honestly help Sean in less than seven days? I’d like to say my heart surges into my throat at the thought of getting my Journey Mark so quickly and knowing without a doubt I’ll be back to the Blue at the end of the month. But in reality I know all that’s surging is the veggie gyro I had for lunch threatening to make a reappearance thanks to Kavya swerving through traffic.
