- The Deception
She straightened, then reached back and did what had stopped him, unfastened the bra. She slipped the straps off her shoulders and let it fall to the floor. The sight of her brought back every bit of the heat he’d lost, multiplied. He reached out, without much thought, and cupped the soft curves as he’d imagined. She made a small sound and arched toward him, pressing against his palms. He saw with a jolt of even fiercer heat that his right hand, in the only position he could manage at this angle, was in the perfect place for his thumb to slide over a nipple that had already drawn taut in anticipation.
When he did it, and she gave a little cry of pleasure, it was like the fire racing along his nerves had suddenly reached an explosive core deep inside him. He wasn’t sure who undressed who and it didn’t matter, not when moments later they were skin to skin on her bed, and she was urging him on. He handled the condom she got for him, then kissed every bit of her he could reach, stroked what he could not. And then she shifted on the bed, parting her legs so he slipped between them. His rigid flesh slid over her, and he felt the slick heat of her.
“Mandy,” he breathed.
“Hurry. Please.”
Something in the way she moaned it out snapped the last bit of his control. He surged into her, sliding deep in one stroke. She gasped as he groaned aloud at the encompassing heat and tight grasp of her body. And then he was moving, because he couldn’t not, and nothing else in the world now or past or future mattered more than this. He reached between them, stroked her, found that swollen knot of nerves and circled it. She cried out and clenched around him.
His last thought before the incredible sensations blasted him to pieces was that hell, maybe he could fly.
Mandy didn’t think she’d slept this deeply or peacefully since her father had been killed. That it was here, with the man who’d been there that night and who she’d been so mistaken about, made it unexpected, but no less wonderful. For the first time in so very long her heart was at peace. And these past two nights had been...she had no words for what they meant to her. She wondered sleepily if the Foxworths would be surprised at the change in the relationship between her and Adam, in merely two weeks. In fact, over the course of a single weekend.
She had the feeling if he was, Quinn wouldn’t show it. And she doubted Hayley would be surprised at all.
