‘I haven’t seen them, but they’re definitely here somewhere.’ I jumped out of my seat with an unexpected burst of energy, leading her across the suite to the first bedroom. ‘We had them sent ahead, they arrived yesterday.’

Rachel paused dramatically in front of a closed door.

‘What do you think is behind door number one?’ she asked.

I tried to suppress a smile as she flung open the door.

‘An infrared Himalayan salt sauna?’

‘Well, that’s cheating because you clearly already knew that,’ she grumbled, tapping her fingers against the wooden frame of the sauna. ‘What’s in the other one?’

She pointed to a mirrored wall, just like the one in Juliette’s cabin. I gave it a gentle push and sure enough, it sprang out to reveal a dressing room, and inside the dressing room were three long racks full of dresses.

‘Jackpot,’ I breathed, following her inside as soft golden lights beamed into life.

‘Look at these.’ Rachel held up a floor-length column of neon-pink chainmail. ‘Have you ever seen anything so wonderful?’

A cascade of yellow chiffon ruffles called out to me from the middle of the rack and I felt another wobble of excitement.

‘How is this even a dress?’ I asked, taking it off the rack with the utmost care and holding it up to the light. ‘It weighs next to nothing.’

Using both arms, Rachel pulled a long, teal dress, covered from top to bottom in beading and feathers, from the rack.

‘All designer stuff is the same,’ she answered, straining with the effort of holding it off the floor. The dress was twice as tall as she was. ‘Everything either weighs a whisper or a metric ton. There is no in-between.’ She held the dress in front of her and checked it out in the huge tri-fold mirror that stood in the corner of the dressing room. ‘God, I’m going to have to try this on, aren’t I?’

‘I think you are,’ I confirmed. ‘I’m going to try the yellow.’

‘Nope,’ Rachel countered, turning back to the rack of dresses. She considered each one with a Terminator-like level of determination on her face before yanking something out from the middle of the rack. ‘This is the one for you.’

In her hands was a floor-length, powder-blue gown that nipped in at the waist before billowing out into layers and layers of tulle. Tiny little crystals were stitched into the fabric, glinting like the first stars in a twilight sky, and the bodice was all wrapped up with sparkling silver ribbons that came together in a bow at one shoulder before cascading down the back of the gown and trailing all the way down to the floor.

‘You don’t think it’s too much?’ I asked, mesmerized by the way the crystals sparkled under the ceiling lights.
