The Canyon had shifted during the night, high and low. The rocks had transformed and now the Princess and the Dragon could see a huge bridge in front of them, a bridge that would allow them to get to the other side.

How did this happen? -- asked Odai with surprise in her voice.

You trusted life, Princess; you trusted yourself -- we heard the Canyon say.

That was it? That’s all it took?

It seems so easy now, -- said the Canyon -- but remember all the times you didn’t trust, remember the times you felt desperate, or when you locked yourself up in the castle. During those times you didn’t trust life; you didn’t trust yourself.

Thank you for opening a path for me.

I did no such thing, -- responded the Canyon -- the bridge has always been here, but you were so distressed that you didn’t see it; sometimes, the most obvious things are only visible from a still place, when you quiet down your mind and relax.

That makes sense.

Who are you talking to?

We’re talking to the Canyon. Don’t you hear him, Dragon?

No...

Dragons of fear are deaf to The Voice of Life -- explained the Canyon. -- Fear can’t hear me, and if you are not careful, Princess, it will at times keep you from hearing my voice. Many times the voice of fear yells louder than the voice of life.

The Princess thought for a moment.

No, -- answered the Canyon -- it’s not that easy, Princess.

What’s not that easy? -- asked the Writer who had evidently missed something.

Can you hear what I’m thinking, Canyon?

Yes, and I am telling you it is not that easy, you can not get rid of the Dragon.

You thought that, Princess?

Just for a second, almost unconsciously.

Can someone please explain to me what’s going on? What are you talking about? I don’t like not knowing what’s happening.

The answer is not getting rid of the Dragon -- said the Canyon -- because sometimes life will speak to you through him.

This is harder than I thought.

No one ever said that living was easy, Princess. But once you get the hang of it, it’s too much fun to stop.

Fun? I don’t even know what I’m doing.

You do realize that it’s rude to keep someone in the dark, don’t you?

It’s really fun to live -- the Canyon smiled. -- Imagine what your life would be like if you knew everything, if you always knew what was going to happen...

It would be wonderful.

Maybe at first, -- explained the Canyon -- but after a while, life would be boring.

If you don’t tell me what’s going on, I’m going to be very upset.
