Could you just stop complaining and for one second try to enjoy what’s happening to us?
Okay... how’s this? Wow, how unusual! -- said the Dragon ironically. -- A green field! I’m so fulfilled now; this is all I ever wanted from life.
The Dragon ran around the field, sarcastically jumping from flower to flower, the Princess looked mad, but the narrator was really enjoying the scene because the Dragon looked so ridiculous.
Mmmmmm! -- said the Dragon, smelling one of the flowers. -- What a lovely scent! So fresh! -- He walked over to another bunch of flowers and took a deep breath... -- Mmmmmm! -- but, this time he couldn’t breathe. -- Wh-wha-what’s happening? -- asked the Dragon with a stuffy nose.
The Dragon lifted his head and looked at the Princess. There were two little legs sticking out of his right nostril, kicking desperately.
Get me out of here! -- yelled a little voice.
The Dragon stared wide-eyed as he heard the little voice echoing inside his head.
Dragon! You have someone stuck up your nose!
What do I do? -- asked the stuffy-nosed Dragon.
Blow me out, you big animal! -- exclaimed the exasperated sounding voice.
The Dragon was about to blow... he took a deep breath and opened his eyes even wider.
For the love of God! Inhale through your mouth! -- screamed the frightened little voice, as its legs sunk deeper into the Dragon’s nostril.
The Dragon inhaled through his mouth, held his breath for a moment, shut his eyes and blew as hard as he could. A big flame came out of his nose and a little fireball rolled to the ground and crashed into a tree. When the fire was extinguished, there... laying on its back... with his little legs up in the air, was a charred, smoky... elf!
I’m sorry, kid. I didn’t see you.
I am not a kid! -- said the angry elf. -- I am not an elf, either! -- said... the little... charred man? -- I am The Guardian of The Castle of The Dragon of Fear.
You’re the what?
I am the guardian -- repeated the upset, little... guardian. -- I am the person destined by the highest authority to keep watch over The Castle of The Dragon of Fear.
I am The Dragon of Fear. Why have I not heard of you before? -- inquired the suspicious Dragon, cleverly. Dragon! You can’t narrate yourself. Oh, man, it’s a shame, I did it so well! Anyway, why haven’t I heard of you before? -- inquired the suspicious Dragon, cleverly.
Because dragons of fear know very little about anything -- said the little guardian. -- Can you please stop calling me little guardian? My name is Bonsai.
The Writer couldn’t help himself and let out a big roar of laughter. Bonsai? Alright... then: “said Bonsai.”
