That makes me smile, and I turn my head to kiss her jaw. I feel her smile against my ear.
“Are you nervous again?” she asks.
I nod and hold her tighter.
“Do you want me to go easy on you?”
I give this question the same consideration I gave Nadia’s, and I remember her words that the point is to like her; the reason we matched with Jourdan was because we liked her.
“No,” I admit in a quiet whisper.
Jourdan pulls back and looks up at me with a sly grin on her face. Her dark brown eyes look almost black, and they’re framed by the longest, curliest eyelashes I’ve ever seen. “You’re so fucking adorable,” she giggles.
She kisses me again on my cheek, and then the corner of my mouth and then on my lips. It’s soft, no tongue. My heart is pounding. “I should have worn a skirt,” she whispers against my tongue. “Come on, let’s go.”
“Was your last relationship, you know…?”
“Polyamorous?” she finishes for me with an indulgent roll of her eyes.
“Yeah.”
“No. It was a classic sprint to monogamy. The sapphic girlies love that.”
“Oh,” I say. “I didn’t realize…”
“That I liked girls?” She squints at me in confusion.
“No, I mean… Obviously, you do because…”
“Because I fully plan to get in your wife’s panties,” she leans toward me to whisper even though we’re alone on this trail and haven’t passed anyone yet. I think she just likes flustering me.
“Fuck,” I mutter under my breath.
She laughs. “So, how long have you two been together?”
The change of subject feels like whiplash, but I appreciate stepping onto firm ground. “Fifteen years. Married for twelve.”
“And your…sons, right?” Jourdan asks.
I nod.
“How old are they?”
“They just turned ten.”
“Aw, twins! I love that.”
“So did Nadia. ‘One pregnancy, two kids, shop’s closed,’ she always says.”
“Oh, so you two don’t want more kids?”
“We thought about it, but a multiple pregnancy is hard, and our boys were big. Nadia was on bed rest for months, and then after they were born, it was all a lot to handle. We decided not to try again. Sorry, I’m not sure how much of this is okay to talk about and in how much detail. Nadia and I should have discussed this beforehand. I don’t think we expected anyone we dated to ask such…normal questions.”
Jourdan laughs. “What’d you think we’d talk about? Y’all’s favorite positions? Brand of condoms? The last time you bent your wife over the kitchen sink while the rest of the family was in the other room? Oh, or did you not think we’d talk? Maybe I’d just come by on the weekends so you two could fuck me while the kids are away?”
“Um…”
