The NYC Crew: My editor, Liz Stein, for asking all the right questions during the editorial process, letting me dream a bit, and listening to my desires for this work. Thanks to the entire Last Summer on State Street team at William Morrow/HarperCollins: I appreciate all that you’ve done to bring this book to the world! And to the fiercely talented, passionate, personable woman whom I get to call my agent, Meredith Kaffel Simonoff: you are one of a kind and more than I could ever wish for.

Drei and Cam for being there through it all: the drafts, the readings, the doubts, the tears, the fatigue. Your love, encouragement, and friendship were necessary ingredients in this journey.

Shune, my original partner in crime, for showing me what strength looks like and believing in me and my writing for as long as I can remember.

The women in my family who taught me all about love and affection: Mama, Grandma, Yvonne, Inez, and Lisa: so many, many, thanks!
