Her hand fell on Frazer’s ankle like it was the most natural thing in the word. Was it natural? Friends did that. Gave affection. Touched. Frazer and Andy probably looked like a couple after a few drinks. But she’d never slept with Andy.
Heat crept up Frazer’s shin. Her foot tingled.
She should move her leg. Subtly. Away. Or Cora should move her hand.
Neither of them did.
“Biggest regret?”
It slipped out. Frazer had meant to ask about her most embarrassing moment.
That hand didn’t move, but the grip tightened. Just a little.
Enough to notice.
Cora looked to the floor. Her chest was moving up and down noticeably.
“Different question.” Cora’s voice was tight.
“O-kay. Most embarrassing moment?”
Frazer let out a small breath she hadn’t realised she’d been holding when she saw a smile play on Cora’s features.
“Being dacked at the school camp when I was nine. Underwear and all.”
Frazer bit her lip. Her jaw clenched.
“It’s okay, Frazer, you can laugh.”
A bark of laughter made it out, and Cora sighed theatrically. Frazer tried to tamp down on her amusement. “I’m so sorry. I know that would have been so embarrassing, but really?”
“Yeah. It was night, too. My butt practically glowed.”
“Poor thing.”
“Yeah, you clearly think that; you’re still laughing.”
Frazer managed to drop her eyes back to her phone, thumb scrolling over and over as she felt Cora’s eyes on her.
“Truth or dare?” Cora asked.
“Dare.”
Because why not? This was boring, and it wasn’t like there was much she could do in there, anyway.
“Kiss me.”
The words were nothing but a whisper, but they filled Frazer’s ears as if they’d been shouted. Her neck cricked as she looked up too quickly. She stared at Cora, who was looking at her steadily. Too steadily. Frazer looked back at her phone again.
“What?”
Cora said it again, as if it were nothing this time. “Kiss me.”
Neither of them moved. The space in the lift wasn’t big enough to hold all of this. Cora’s hand shifted up from her ankle. Her fingers wrapped around Frazer’s shin, and Frazer felt pressure there as Cora pushed herself upwards. There was the sound of her body moving forward, and then Cora surrounded her senses. Her legs were straddling Frazer. The smell of sweet perfume, which reminded her of her own skin and the scent that had lingered on Saturday morning, played in the air between them. Cora’s chest was level with Frazer’s face, and if Frazer leant forward slightly, she would be able to bury her face in the softness of her—rest her forehead between Cora’s breasts and breathe her in.
“Frazer.”
Hands cupped her face. Tilted her head up.
Heat trailed all over her skin, and Frazer shut her eyes.
“Kiss me.”
