As seemed to happen when Frazer’s lips touched her, Cora’s mind was quiet. Quieter than it had been in too long. Cora took a slow step back and leant against the back wall again and just stared at Frazer. Watched her straighten her scrub shirt. The door opened, and when Frazer turned and walked down the hall, Cora followed. Thankfully, Lauren wasn’t at her desk. No one was there. It was lunchtime. The door to Cora’s office closed easily behind them. The lock turned with no resistance.
Frazer sat against Cora’s desk. When Cora pulled her shirt over her head, Frazer did the same with her own. Cora kicked off her shoes; her pants slid easily down her legs. The vibrating from her phone died away once she dropped them with her shirt.
It was easy, in the end, to give in. To step between Frazer’s legs. To lean forward, her hands pressed into the desk either side of Frazer’s hips and kiss her again.
Under her lips, Frazer’s neck felt like silk. Her collarbone tasted like regret should but didn’t. Cora’s fingers fumbled with Frazer’s bra, not used to taking one off at this angle. Frazer didn’t even notice as she groaned. Cora’s lips wrapped around her nipple.
The thudding of her heart in her ears should have been a distraction. But to Cora, it was like a drum keeping time, a musical score to her infidelity, the rhythm of cheating. Whether with a man or a woman, Cora shouldn’t be doing this.
Her fingers tugged easily at the band of Frazer’s underwear. Her legs were long, dark, smooth, different.
With her lips under Frazer’s navel, Cora paused. Frazer’s stomach trembled visibly as her breath washed over the sensitive skin. When she looked up, Frazer’s eyes were watching her. Studying her, as if waiting for her to stand and flee.
Like a prayer, Cora asked something she should never ask of Frazer: “Be my distraction?”
Frazer’s tongue ran over her bottom lip, warmth spreading in Cora’s stomach at the sight. Just once, Frazer nodded.
“And be my friend?” Cora’s voice cracked.
Cora didn’t know if what she was asking made sense, if it was okay. Was it something she should ask a person, especially Frazer? How did she ask a question when she wasn’t really sure what it meant herself?
Again, Frazer nodded.
And Cora kissed her skin again. Kissed lower until fingers tangled in her hair again and her name was whispered like another type of prayer altogether.

CHAPTER TEN
On the floor of Cora’s office, Frazer had found out that Cora was the type for canoodling at work.
