“There’s a kid that’s just turned eighteen under my care who knows more about doing the right thing than I do.”

Confused, Frazer took a moment. She meant Jack. “Sometimes there’s more than one right thing.” Frazer didn’t even know what she was saying. What it meant.

Yet Cora nodded. Held her gaze. She stepped forward again, her fingers trembling slightly, and traced Frazer’s cheek. They collided, and Frazer almost fell backwards with the force of her. It took Frazer a moment to catch up, to match the desperation in Cora’s kiss. But only a moment.

Their hands tore at each other, nails raking against skin. Somehow, they made it to Frazer’s room, their clothes a pile next to the bed, shoes kicked off somewhere on the way. There was naked skin against her, Cora’s arms wrapped around her neck. Her legs wrapped around Frazer’s waist. Somehow, she fit perfectly between Frazer’s legs that were moulded against her.

Cora’s hand clung to the back of her neck, her free one grabbing at Frazer’s skin. As her fingers ran down and stroked her, their kiss broke, their foreheads still together and their eyes searching for something Frazer couldn’t name. Light filtered in from the hallway, enough that Frazer could catch Cora’s gaze and wonder at what the depth, the warmth, an iris so dark held. It was easy to cling to Cora’s neck in the same way Cora did to her own, to reach down and run her fingers over softness, over wetness. Frazer matched Cora’s pace. Their hips demanded more.

When Cora threw her head back, Frazer dragged her teeth over the skin of her neck, across the pulse point that always made Cora groan. Soothed it with her tongue.

Cora was shaking. Her thighs trembled around Frazer. When she came undone, her gaze on Frazer’s, it only took a second for Frazer to follow, matching Cora’s erratic panting breaths, letting herself fall backwards onto the bed. Cora fell with her and settled between her legs. Her face pressed into Frazer’s neck, hot breath washing over flushed skin.

Lazily, Frazer’s fingers ran over Cora’s skin, over the dampness that had pooled along her spine. All the while, Frazer’s heart thudded against her ribs.

The errant thought shot through her mind: how was this wrong?

Still breathing too fast, Cora lifted her head, resting it on her hand on a propped-up elbow to look down at Frazer. Her eyes, still so dark, were unreadable. Slowly, Frazer pushed a piece of hair behind Cora’s ear and swallowed hard. Cora’s eyes were soft. A fathomless, profound soft.

When Cora spoke, the words were a whisper that lingered over Frazer’s lips. “That was incredible.”

For some reason, Frazer didn’t trust herself to speak. She nodded, a smile playing at her lips.
