Three times now, Frazer had reassured her. And she would reassure Erin another ten if she needed to. Frazer wasn’t the one carrying a baby around in her uterus. “They were completely normal. Braxton Hicks contractions can be uncomfortable, especially in the first pregnancy. But nothing’s wrong.” Warm water from the tap washed over Frazer’s hands, and she added some soap, looking over her shoulder as she spoke. “Though if you get concerned at all, get yourself into emergency. No need to worry yourself silly.”
Erin let out a big breath. “Okay. Thank you. Sam kept saying it was nothing.”
“What does he know?” Frazer winked at her.
Grinning, Erin shook her head. “A lot about computers, not a lot about this.”
“He would have just been saying it because he needed nothing to be wrong.”
As Erin slipped her underwear and pants back on behind the screen, Frazer sat down at the computer and quickly updated her file. “Now, this may be the last I see you before you give birth. Unless you’re late—though everything is looking good.”
“God.” Erin rubbed her huge stomach. “My sister was overdue one week and had to be induced.” Her face paled. “She said it was more painful than the birth.”
“Don’t go thinking about that yet, Erin.” Frazer leant on her desk. “If it comes to that bridge, we’ll cross it. Do you want some more information on it, in case?”
“No.” Erin said wryly. “I’ve read everything you have anyway. And you’ve answered all these questions a thousand times.”
“Well, make an appointment if you need.” Frazer grinned. “And hopefully, next time I see you will be to help you get Zack out of there.”
Erin wrapped her scarf around her neck and waggled the tassels playfully in Frazer’s direction. “It’s Blake now.”
“Blake then.”
“Thanks, Frazer. Bye.”
The door to the prenatal room closed behind Erin, and Frazer leant back into her chair. She rubbed her face. There’d been a lot of concerned parents that morning. One guy had almost panicked as he’d told her he’d seen two penises on the ultrasound screen. She’d had to explain with a straight face that one was the umbilical cord.
After he had calmed down, his face had taken on a look of disappointment. “Can’t blame me for dreaming,” he’d said.
That was when his girlfriend had smacked him upside the head.
Frazer left the prenatal rooms and headed for her office. From there, she’d answer a few e-mails and then send Cora a message.
A message she didn’t really want to send. But she had to.
None of this was okay.
“Frazer!”
Oh, God. No.
She looked up at the voice, already knowing who it was. Alec was heading towards her. Jesus, he was actually smiling.
“Hey, Alec.” I had sex with your wife. Again.
