- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Brigid smiled, even though her chest felt hollow. What would it be like to have that kind of relationship with a man? A good man who only wanted the best for you. Could she have that with Raider? Would he ever completely forgive her? Even if he did, he would always work for the government and probably not the unit, especially if they were being shut down. Where did that leave her? The HDD sent her wherever they wanted, and she had no choice in that.
“Brigid?” Dana asked, her cheeks rosy. “Your turn. That Raider is one sexalicious dude.”
Brigid snorted and then coughed. “You are such a dork.”
“Yep,” Dana said happily. “It’s nice to be making friends.”
Yeah, it really was. Hopefully Brigid would be able to keep these friends. “All right. We slept together, he was amazing, he found out I was working undercover for the HDD and had lied to him, he got pissed, and now I think he’s not interested except for sex.”
The table was quiet for a moment.
“That’s a lot,” Nari finally said.
“No kidding. Geez. Too bad you can’t drink right now,” Dana agreed.
Pippa patted her arm. “He looks at you like you’re a chocolate chip cookie and he hasn’t eaten a sweet in a year. Don’t worry, it’ll work out.”
Brigid turned to Pippa. “Now that’s what you say in this situation.” Grinning, she turned back to the other two women, who were both looking at her over the tops of their glasses. “Take notes. You guys need to work on your comforting skills.”
They laughed and ordered another round, and this time, Brigid ordered extra whipped cream. Wolfe was totally ruining her when it came to sweet drinks.

This was such a bad idea even Raider couldn’t find a silver lining. He opened the bar door and walked inside, Wolfe on his heels and looking like a bulldog about to find a steak dinner.
Eddie sat at a table near the back next to Jonny P, eating what appeared to be a large bowl of spaghetti. He looked up with a smile on his face that quickly disappeared as he caught sight of Wolfe.
Raider approached. “Eddie, this is Wolfe, my associate.” He purposely didn’t look at Jonny, who’d already pushed his jacket back to reveal a gun in his holster. The guy all but vibrated in place, ready to enforce Eddie’s word. Was it good or bad that Josh the Bear wasn’t around? “Where’s Josh?”
“Off on private business again. Doesn’t tell me where.” Eddie’s square face hardened, making his nose look more broken than usual. “I didn’t say you could invite a friend.”
“Who says I’m a friend?” Wolfe asked, his voice low and even grittier than usual.
