Jay laughed and cut in. “So you’re a bit of both. The same and different. Tell me, had you read any gay romance novels before taking this job to model for Charlotte?”
Asher glanced at me, so I took the initiative to answer. “To be honest, no. When I fumbled across the ad, I was drawn to investigate who she was and purchased one of her books—which had a totally steamy cover, I might add—and I read it. It was amazing. As a gay man, I honestly didn’t know there were books like that out there. I loved every word and knew I wanted to represent the twins in this new series. The kicker was convincing my brother to go along with my plan.”
Jay leaned forward and glanced at Asher. “Had you heard of Charlotte Jones before Atticus told you about this opportunity?”
“Nope. But I read the new book cover to cover, and I’m definitely her number one fan now.” He winked at Jay, and I hoped Jay had enough decency to move this along. Asher was still unsettled about his sexuality, and I didn’t think it would be fair for Jay to shine a light on it in front of a crowd.
“One last question before I open the floor. What was it like to shoot those sexy scenes with your twin brother? There was an awful lot of nakedness and intimacy involved. That must have been challenging.”
Asher and I shared a look and silently agreed I’d take this question. I leaned in and scanned the room. “Honestly, it’s acting.” I shrugged. “When the camera was on us, we became Ender and Elliot. Asher and I are comfortable with each other, so crossing lines, touching, kissing, it was no big deal. When the scene ended, we went back to being brothers. Maybe not everyone could handle that kind of intimacy with their sibling, but we got through it.”
Someone in the crowd shouted, “Demonstrate!”
Jay laughed. “Care to demonstrate some ‘acting?’”
I rolled my eyes and played up being shy and unsure. Asher waved at the audience, rolling his hand in a gesture of encouragement, getting them excited as they chanted, “Show us!” over and over. Then he spun me with a flourish, took my face between his hands, and crushed our mouths together. We kept it clean and closed-mouthed, but it sent the volume in the room off the charts. We ended up laughing into the kiss, and I wrapped my arms around his middle, pulling him against me.
After, I buried my face in Asher’s chest, playing up the shyness. He cuddled me close, trailing his nose along my hair and offering tender touches that turned the cheering to awws from the audience.
“I’m pretty sure I got to see more action while on set. Sorry, ladies and gentlemen. We do need to censor the event. Let’s open the floor for some questions.”
