One thing Victorija knew was that it wouldn’t end happily for them both. She had lost the Dred clan without a fight. She had chosen to save Daisy over her long lust for power and control over the Dred clan. There was no going back from that. Her vampires would never accept her, and now that Victorija had come this far, she didn’t think she even wanted to go back.
Victorija stroked her finger across Daisy’s plump and juicy lip. In her mind’s eye she saw Daisy’s bright red blood flowing out of her lip, while she kissed and sucked in equal measure.
Stop it. She had to stop thinking. If only she could just sleep and take a break from the aching hunger, but sleep only brought the dead’s anguished screams, their demand that she face them, look them in the eye, and the incessant, dreary rain.
Could she hide forever from them? One thing she was certain of—without Daisy’s blood, her mind was going to sink into madness if she didn’t break this bond. She rested her head back against the wall and closed her eyes. She was tired and weary, and every time her brain threatened to fall into sleep, she heard the distant roll of thunder and the pitter-patter of miserable rain. She opened her eyes quickly each time, but eventually as she closed her eyes, she pictured sucking and kissing Daisy’s blood-rich lips. That didn’t make her sleepy. It made her body come alive.
Her body ached to touch Daisy and have Daisy touch her, which wasn’t the usual way sex went for her. It was quick and hot, and everything was about taking and giving exactly what she wanted, power and control. Not with Daisy.
She was so hungry for Daisy’s blood and her body. Victorija’s stomach ached, as well as her sex. Then a little voice said in the back of her head, She said you should take her blood earlier, so it would be okay to do it. She technically wouldn’t be breaking her vow to Angele, would she?
Victorija’s eyes opened, and her fangs erupted. She said I should drink from her. Go on, go on, just once to rebuild your strength.
She started to lower her head towards Daisy’s lips. Just as she was about to lose control, Victorija heard the rumble of the elevator, and the sound of her Duca’s voice. They’d found them.
“Daisy, wake up.”
Victorija speedily grabbed the bag and was back to the side of the bed before Daisy had even sat up.
“What’s the panic?”
“We have to go, now.”
“Why?” Daisy asked, still trying to come around from sleep.
“Drasas and my vampires are coming up in the lift. Let’s move.”
Victorija pulled Daisy off the bed.
“You can hear that?”
