This was Sera’s chance to prove her worth to Byron. Her time to shine and show her that she was worthy of the name Debrek.
“I’ll be right with you. What’s the address?”
She called Henri, her bodyguard, and asked him to gather together a team of five vampires and warriors, while she made sure the guards left in the house were on alert. Sera put the address in her phone’s map and raced out of the house with her team of vampires and warriors.
Sera’s time was now, and she was going to make Byron proud.

Zane hung up his phone with shaking hands.
Behind him Asha said, “Good choice, Zane. Maybe I won’t have to break your neck like your flatmate’s there, if you do what I say.”
Zane looked down and saw the result of his flatmate Mikey’s attempt to help Zane. Asha had killed him, broken his neck with the flick of the wrist.
Asha had his hand at the base of his skull, and Zane believed he would snap his neck just as quickly. When the man had asked him to make a phone call to Serenity Debrek about Daisy, he’d panicked and refused. From what he knew about Byron Debrek, she would hunt him down if anything happened to her sister.
But what choice did he have?
“I will do whatever you want.”
Asha took his hand off Zane’s neck and walked over to a noticeboard on Zane’s bedroom wall. It was covered by photographs of Daisy. Some taken from the Monster Hunter’s expeditions, and some taken when Daisy didn’t know he was there.
“It’s no wonder Daisy can’t stand you. You’re a coward. A coward who takes secret photos of women?”
Zane felt deep shame. He knew it wasn’t right, but he just loved Daisy so much. If she would just give him one date, he could show her how right they could be.
Asha leaned over Zane and said, “You do as I say, you stay alive. Got it?”
Zane nodded.
“And who knows? When this is over, I might give you a chance to see Daisy again.”

Byron paced as she, Alexis, and Bhal waited for Brogan to come back. Alexis had offered to go as well, but Brogan said she could work more quickly solo, following the scent alone.
She’d shifted to pelt and her wolf had set out about two hours ago, after she inhaled Daisy’s scent from her phone. Alexis got up and started pacing herself. “That’s two hours she’s been away. Surely she’ll be back soon?”
Bhal, who was at the kitchen table, sharpening the sword she kept on her back, said, “Have patience, Duca. Tracking is a tricky business. Even for a wolf.”
