- Don't miss out!
“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asks, unscrewing the cap of the water bottle and handing it to me. I take a long drink, not realizing how thirsty I was.
I can’t speak, but the feeling of being alone with him again threatens to break me.
“I am now,” I muster.
“Goddamn, Sierra. If I had any idea he would come after you…”
I stop his words with my own. There are still so many questions I need answers to. “What do you have to do with this, Logan?”
“I don’t want you to worry about me,” he answers.
“I’m going to decide, whether you want me to or not. Logan, I—”
His lips are against mine. It’s like a fresh gasp of air, and I pull him desperately against my body. When his tongue slips past my lips, I drop the mostly empty water bottle and wrap my arms around him. He lifts me as my legs wrap around his waist.
“God, I missed this,” he whispers against my mouth. He sets me on the counter and keeps his body between my legs.
I want him to tear off my clothes and let him lose himself in my body again like that first night, but I need answers. I need to know that Logan isn’t lost to the seedy world I found him in.
“Don’t avoid the question,” I whisper, pulling back so he can’t kiss the question away.
Letting out a sigh, he realizes that I’m not going to stop asking until I know the truth. “Rafe and I have it under control. The less you know the better.”
It physically hurts me to do it, but I press his body away from mine and his face falls.
“No,” I snap. “I love being back here with you, but I’m not going to be silent and stupid.”
“I would never…” he says, trying to touch my cheek.
“Be honest with me,” I answer, pulling back again. “Are you dealing again?”
He smiles, then he lets his head fall into my lap. “No, baby. I promise you. I’m not dealing.” His kisses trail up from my thighs to my arms, and it feels so good, I think I can die from it, but I manage to push him away again.
“Then what was Hale talking about?”
“You’re killing me.”
“I don’t care,” I say as strongly as I can. “Logan, if you’re going to keep things from me, then I’m going to walk away right now.”
“Rafe and I stole his supply. We burned every last ounce, but we knew his dealers would come after him, and we’ve been watching him, knowing that we’d have leverage over him. That he’d spill his supplier to keep his own ass safe.”
He whispers it against my fingers, and I smile at him, not only because he’s not the same broken man I met a month ago. The Logan I knew played the victim, always one step behind and second-guessing himself. This Logan is ahead of the game, methodical, and hungry for justice.
